Why would we sign plax when we are all pretty sure he was the cancer in the locker room on Holmes side. The last thing we need is half the wr core battling with the quarterback all season. Plus plax simply isn't that good, I'm happy with what we have and we should move forward with the wide out talent we posses.

Schilens was pretty much going to make the team the day they signed him. The new receivers coach must really like him.
They must think he'll be back for week 1 or 2. If he gets hurt after that, they'll IR him or cut him.
Oh yeah, Louis Murphy. He has one catch so far in the entire preseason. I'm not big on Schillens, but you could definitely find a better example than that guy.

actually, you're right. i saw the 49er-denver game sunday and the 49ers had some 2nd and 3rd string guys at te who are better than our depth right now. i'm sure they and the saints might shake loose a guy who could help us.
have we found our next paul hackett? our next brian schottenheimer? our next wayne hunter? i dont think schillens will make it to those lofty levels, i honestly forgot he was even on the team.
With his history, it's unlikely he'll be spending any time on the football field ... so most Jets fans are gonna forget about him being on the roster eventually. I'd love to be wrong but history dictates otherwise.
Half a mil is now 50 cents in the NFL? What you are saying is, its ok to cut someone whose contract is almost entirely guaranteed, and then lets spend an EXTRA $400k and bring in a guy to see if he makes the 53 man squad. How many of those 53 guys actually contribute? With Schilen, you are almost guaranteed he'll contribute when he's on the field. BTW, Schilen and Kerley are suppose to be fine by week 1, per Rex Ryan. People continue to freak out because of his injury, but they fail to realize that he has great potential. Im willing to 'sacrifice' a roster spot for him and Jets FO and CS seem to agree with.
Let's see. Paying Holmes how many millions per year ? And you are concerned about us losing the $500k and spending an extra $400K for a total of $900K to add an actual threat to the roster ? One who hasn't been practicing for the Tour de France all offseason? I don't think any of us are talking about going out and signing just any random UDFA or unproven rookie. Instead, we're talking about adding a known quantity who would actually contribute.
Because Tannenbaum wants to protect his imaginary reputation of being an excellent talent evaluator. Almost every FA acquisition he's ever made has been a bust, and the majority of his picks have been a bust. There's no way he can just send "known" guys packing, because it would ruin his ego.
Tannenbaum isn't a personnel man, he's a contract lawyer. Most Jets fans know this, but since you're not one, I'm not really shocked that you don't.
For $400k, you are not going to get any offensive threat, maybe an ok special teamer at best. If you want to add a "known quantity who would actually contribute", you are probably looking at a few bucks as opposed to 50 cents. If Jets can find a real threat for $400k, then cut Schillen now. If not, people need to STFU and let Schilen play. You won't find a bigger threat than Schilen for $400-600k, even if it'll be for half a season.
