No one told me that. Seriously. Are you that soft? I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings. Truly. I just asked a question.
BN Agreement is that you guys will not personalize discussions. There was nothing wrong in his question to you to be honest.
@Brook! Maybe now that the pre-season is a thing of the past and the premise the title here was based upon according to the OP has expired a change in title might slow down the unproductive sniping here. It's surely Aaron Rodgers Time.
GOOD! I'm truly glad to hear that we are OK. I totally respect you and you are one of my favorite posters here, and one I would be happy to sit down with you and discuss Jets football over a beer or three. We do agree most of the time. It's fine that we disagree. I can totally understand being frustrated with the situation. I'm not happy with it either, but it is what it is. In the end if he doesn't work out for the Jets and does develop somewhere else I'll be happy for him, but will be really disappointed that it didn't happen here. He may not work out at all, but I can't give up on him yet, not with his arm talent, his playmaking ability, athleticism, and work ethic/desire to learn and be as good as he can be. As far as Mahomes, Hurts and Allen, we'll never know. There are a few QBs who seemingly can play in any system, overcome any obstacle, and who can survive, if not thrive anywhere. Peyton Manning was one. John Elway probably was one. I don't think Tom Brady would have been one of those. I think he had to be in the right system. Brett Favre probably could have played in any system. There are only a few of those guys however. Look at how many highly-ranked collegiate QBs come into the NFL and are either busts or JAGs. I think part of the reason for that is that NFL teams don't have patience. They thrust them into the starting lineup day one, regardless of what their OL or playmaking talent around them is like. If Mahomes, Hurts, or Allen had been drafted by the Jets, I'm fairly certain that they wouldn't have been any better than Zach. Maybe Mahomes would have been, but I don't think either Hurts or Allen would have been. Who would have coached them and fixed their issues?
Makes sense. Let me ask OP his preference before I change the title. @GreenFan15J My friend. See Ralebird's suggestion. What should be the name of this thread going forward?
Have we run out of room for new threads? Changing the title makes no sense. Start a new thread... this one's already at 40+ pages.
I'm certain all three of those other QBs would've struggled, though maybe not as much as Zach. I was - and am - a huge Mahomes fan - and believe he would've become at least a solid FQB no matter what, but under Bowles, Gase, and LaFleur he would not have been anywhere near as good as he is. As to Josh Allen, his first year was at least as bad as Zach's and his second not much better, but the major difference is that he had good coaching and the Bills made a decision to build everything around him, including going out and signing a couple of good FA OL and a top WR. To his credit Josh worked his ass off to improve, but he also had the same basic coaching and system to work with that was designed towards his strengths. I just don't understand why those who don't believe Zach can work out don't factor in the atrocious job the Jets did in developing him before this year - and yeas that goes for Darnold too. You need to hold the FO and CS more accountable for all of this.
