I certainly see your point, but the changing of the gaurd is always a bit touchy on any NFL team - it is infinitely more complicated than you or I will ever now. There is commeraderie, relationships, leadership, history, and so much more. While the super hard-ass approach would surely have been to start Clemens 4 weeks ago or even sooner, it may have had far reaching repercushions. I think we really needed to see the wind comletely deflate our playoff potential for this year before the pill could be swollowed by everyone. Ultimately, while it insures by waiting so long that our playoff dreams for this year are dashed, it may have been the best way for Mangini to go about it. I still think we may split our remaining 8 games and that would be actually good - we play some tough teams.
I have been a fan since around 85 or so, I remember a point, don't recall the years, that I stopped watching the Jets, I am almost to that point now, nothing to look forward too. The thing is they always give you a little hope and then break your heart. Why can't they just get blown out, fuck keeping the game close so that one play decides the outcome -- which seems to be going everyone's way but ours.
The Jets are on their normal pace. One winning season, followed by a Horrible losing season. Nothing changes.
The New England game is coming - even with clemens; I think we lose, but may make a game out of it. With chad in we get tatally blown out like 49-0
The QB has changed we have one with skills, toughness and a brain. Todd Skills and tough no brain, OBrien Skills and a brain not tough. Chad Brain tough no skills. Vinny Tough, skills but could still play the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz. Maybe we have something here that has it all?
If Mankotite keeps playing stupid on the sideline, then yes, this just may as well be the worst Jets team in history. There is no way this team having the talent it has can be so badly coached. I`m thinking Mankotite is purposely blowing calls and losing the games. There is just no way any other person would make some of those calls. I think we`re being duped for draft picks this season(throwin the season away it seems). Looks like Mankotite threw in the towel after Belishiit beat his arse in game 1.
1997 to 2002. 6 years in a row with no absolute disasters. Believe it or not that has only been true once before in franchise history. 1981 to 1986 when Walt Michaels built a great defense before Joe Walton squandered it. It's just amazing that this can keep happening. The Rangers went 53 years without a Stanley Cup, but they were decent more often than not and had some great years in there. The Jets? Surface every now and then for a decent season or even a few but then it's right back into the depths.
