This is the only way Ryan gets fired. It would have to be a big scandal that embarrassed the team. Right now Rex is the star and the face of the team. He is the Jets and he is going no where. We could go 2-14 next year and he would be fine.

The only person that might be leaving is Sanchez. I doubt we could get anything in return for him in a draft pick. But it only takes one bad GM to make a trade. Remember we got a 6th round pick for Brooks Bollinger. Arguably Brooks was a much better QB than Sanchez but Sanchez is a bigger name and takes a better picture, Its possible another GM may want to make a publicity splash with a trade for Sanchez. More likely he simply gets cut.

Bellicheck was the right coach for this franchise and the people in the front office were smart enough to know that, to bad he is a class a prick and bolted for Ne.

If it takes a bad GM to trade for Sanchez this year, what would it take to trade up to the 5th overall pick for him?

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but this is one of the dumbest threads ever. You don't fire a coach that took you to two consecutive AFC championship games because he barely misses the playoffs one year. Especially when the guy is single-handedly responsible for making you relevant again in a city that you were previously the ugly red-headed stepchild. Regardless of whether you approve or disapprove of his tactics, there in no denying that Rex is responsible for making us relevant again.

    Let's get real here!

You are high if you think this organization can go 2-14 next year and Ryan will be fine. The man will get a pass for this year. If they do not make the post season next year he will get thrown out of town.

This is all business. This is New York. Win or move the fuck along.

Dude, you can't be serious!?!?! You really believe Brooks Bollinger, the same guy that's not in the NFL anymore, was better then Mark Sanchez??? I agree that Mark leaves a lot to be desired, but you can't be serious that you could even make the argument that Bollinger was better the Sanchez.

And I can pretty much guarantee you that he's not "simply getting cut."

I hate to break it to you... but the only sure team this city has seen in a while are the Yankees - and even they have problems.

Your, this is NYC move it or lose it, mantra isn't consistent with this city's franchises.

More likely if the Jets lose to the Dolphins, Rex will say: "Damn, I wanted to sweep this team. Hats off to them they are very talented but I will play them again right now if I can. We will get them next year. This game is on me." Then Woody will give him a high 5 and Woody, Rex and Tanny will go out for a drink. Schotty not invited.

Firing Rex because of this season would be one of the biggest mistakes the Jets could ever make. Rex is our coach moving forward. He has done a very good job so far. If your going to make the criteria for a HC be make the playoffs every year or your fired your never going to have a successful football team.

nope Woody would be to pissed from all the missed playoff revenue to go out, trust me if Jets don't make the playoffs the least Woody will do is put Rex on a leash.

The only thing about Rex that would concern me would be if the players quit on him this week. I think it's highly, HIGHLY unlikely though. However, I've seen weirder things happen in the NFL.

Let's say Miami gets up 10-0 and the Jets visibly go in the tank and lose a 34-10 or 27-3 game. We've seen that sort of thing happen a lot to organizations in the past. Combine this scenario with going from 8-5 and controlling your destiny to 8-8 and packing it in and it would be VERY disconcerting.

I find it highly unlikely due to Rex being a "players coach". However, if it happened, I'd be very concerned about Rex moving forward. Other than that unlikely scenario, I think Rex can be the guy to get it done here.

If we fail to make the playoffs this year and fail to make the playoffs next year Rex will be gone.

Chance of Rex being fired this year is nil.

You can't lose to a Todd Bowles (LOL) led squad...

You see how fast we rolled over and made ZERO half time adjustments last week...

He won't get fired since in 3 years you have 2 AFC Championships appearances...

Can't believe I responded to this thread.

He'd have to bring an illegal gun to Florham Park and decide not too shot Scotty in the head to get fired.

Rex has at least an other 2 seasons before we Woody is going to consider pulling the plug. I just do not get the fact that Rex seems so hands of with the offense. In game you don't see him with them looking to right the ship. Mind you he's playing to his strengths with his d focus but this is the adjustment he needs to make. If he is the d master and teams working out Jets schemes makes you wonder why can't he tell Schottenheimer this os how I would destroy your offense and make son of Marty draw up some new shit thta Rex can't work out how to smash

I like Rex, but he really needs to get better as a head coach.

Sending out Plax alone for the coin flip was supposed to accomplish just what exactly? Dumb.

Letting Schotty call 59 pass plays in a close winnable game? Dumb.

Asking other teams to beat the Pats while your team gets swept by them? Dumb.

He's writing checks his team can't cash.

Bill Parcells said "You are what your record says you are."
Rex Ryan has to stop being delusional about the talent he has on this team and make some hard cold decisions. Then he needs to take total control.
