Screaming and yelling is much different from accountability. I could care less if Saleh ever screams and yells another day in his life, at home or at work...But, my question and concern is, is he holding the players and coaches accountable behind the scenes? You don't need to yell one iota to keep people accountable...There was a great story Dante Scarnecchia told about one way Belichick does it...It was during the game day film review with the entire team. Scarnechhia said the Belichick would call everyone out for a mistake during the review, star players (particularly Brady), regular players but also the coaching staff (in front of the team mind you). Think of it as a weekly performance review that better go well or else...But Dante said it was all done in a very straight forward/non-yelling way... Yelling is irrelevant but my fear is that Saleh may be too nice of a guy to be that direct to players/coaches....he seems like a guy who tries to inspire through story telling and wisdom but what the hell do I know. I'm also betting that instead of holding people accountable, he's going the other way and trying to inspire everyone by showing perseverance. I couldn't be more spitballing here as I have zero idea what's going on but I'm concerned about the accountability aspect here based on the persona we've seen so far.
I totally agree with the yelling/screaming thing. I don't respond well to that, either. Accountability is the important thing, and imo it doesn't matter if it's done in private or publicly ala Belichick. That may not be Saleh's personality and he may not feel comfortable with that, but he can sure do it in private if that makes him feel more comfortable. I think you're spot on with your last paragraph. It jives with what I've seen and heard from him. He needs to learn that he is the boss, and he is the one who will be held accountable for the CS's and team's performance.
Bowles was a statue on the sidelines but from what I remember he ripped into the players behind closed doors. So who knows?
Weasel, it was Falco21 who was responsible for the observation that "many have you on ignore" so pleeeeze...spare me tiger..... *smirk*
I have played competitve sport all my life, I just hate cunts shouting in my face, also being prodded in the chest sets of a nuclear explosion in my brain, can get me in all kinds of trouble lol or it did more when I was younger. I nearly broke a teacher's finger when I was about 12 as he jabbed me repeatedly, the red mist happens and I have little control. I'd also stippulate I wouldn't need shouting at for my sporting endeavours as I'm a 100% effort guy. Shouting won't make anybody more talented just resentful. Though Van Roten wants handed his cards with his bag packed and locker empty.
His coaching staff is terrible so far and he hired them. I don't know if he recognizes they are terrible or if he's directing them to change their methods.
If you're winning, it doesn't matter whether your coach is yelling and screaming, or quiet and reserved. If you're losing and your coach is screaming, then you need one who's quiet, if your coach is quiet, then you need a screamer.
This has all the makings today of a disaster against Cincy, although I hope I'm wrong. I do think there won't be any OC changes until the end of the year, as that would look like a panic move, but wonder if this continues down this disastrous route, if that will be too late for Saleh and his CS. Kind of a catch 22, can't look like the frantic franchise we are by removing an OC in season, in it's first season, but it's so historically bad that they may not get a 2nd season (although that's a long shot, I do think they get a second season). I do think they're at a point where Saleh really needs to bring in an experienced "consultant" to audit the O as that's about the only thing I think they can do right at this moment and still look like a credible (cough, cough) franchise. And make no mistake, they do need to do act and I mean immediately.
I have a feeling next season will make or break both Saleh and JD. The Jets have bottomed out both in 2020 and 2021. 2022 had better show improvement or else the Fanbase will just walk away. There will always be Corporate Fans using the blocks of tickets various companies have purchased for business. They keep using the Rookie excuse but conveniently forget there are Vets on the field at any given time on both sides of the ball. Vet WR's, Vet DL. 3 of 5 OL are Vets so although there are a lot of Rookies and on average, they are young but on the field, is that really the case??
