I think Harris is a decent player but not a great one. Time for Pace and Thomas to go. I do think Jenkins would have made a difference but give alot of credit to Pioha. Granted pioha missed alot of tackles yesterday but then again so did everyone else.

Scott and Pace are both terribly overrated. We have no pass rush and lack a coverage LB and overall more impact plays from our LBs. Pace and Scott are huge reasons for our short falls

Most of our LBs are overrated but I'd say Harris is the best because he is the best tackler but easily replaceable. He would be the one guy I would let go this season.

Our LB core is horrible in pass coverage and rushing the passer. Scott is great at what he does but he doesn't make impact plays by any means. He had several chances last night and whiffed on all of them, easily his worst game of the season.

From the summer ya, still applies ta' now too tho. Ya, it would def take alotta $$$$ for him but he'd most likely get paid what Pace is making which is nuts already. I know it won't happen most likely but id luv for it to get looked at.

THIS... After he broke his foot, he's been a little "off"

Bart Scott is basically a lead blocker on defense. It's his job to take on blockers so David Harris can roam.

Scott was brought in to change the mindset of this defense. I'd say he's getting the job done.

It's not Bart Scott's job to rush the passer.

You might want to watch Bryan Thomas a little more next game. He needs to be replaced.

Our outside linebackers are holding the defense back.

    Their linebackers don't cover well.

scott is not an impact player, he's a decent player and slow. Problem is, he is one of rex's guys and rex is loyal to a fault. Scott will be here for at least 2more years I think. Thomas needs to go, gotta get younger and faster throughout the front 7. Pace is actually one of our best pass rushers (had a sack in every playoff game). Hopefully he stays healthy next yr. Harris is really slow as mentioned, but he has good instincts and a hard hitter, as long as he is not looking to break the bank he should be re-signed. Due to the fact that he is a long-term jet I would resign ellis at a reasonable price as a rotation guy. Emotions aside he should prob be let go though.

Harris and Scott are a great ILB tandem. They had a bad game @PIT, but they're not a problem. OLB is a huge problem, BT and Pace are average passrushers and JT is history.... We need to get some passrushers to take it to the next level.

Bart Scott is NOT overrated. He's the fullback of the D.

Looked pretty meh to be a lot of the year and definitely yesterday. After that awesome interview of him after the Pats game though I would definitely consider hiring him as a life-coach to scream inspirational and sometimes insulting shit at me to get me motivated if he quits football for sure though.

    Just a friendly suggestion:

Do not post about a player being overrated if you do not understand half a shit about this game.

Over 98% of the posters in this thread have absolutely no idea what his role in Ryan's scheme is.

Calvin Pace isn't getting cut........he'd create over 9 million dollars in dead cap space, and only free up less than 2 million in free space for next year.

    Not happening.

Keep Pace, Harris, and Scott, say goodbye to Thomas and Taylor, use our first pick on the most athletic outside linebacker available.

I tend to think Harris is closer to overrated than Scott is. I never see Harris get off a block. Last night I saw him get blocked out of a play on one Mendenhall's long runs by the freaking TE one on one. Harris is a great tackler but he needs Scott to blow up the blocking for him to make an impact.

He's overpaid but a necessity for this Rex Ryan defense. He may not be some dominant Pat Willis type but he fills his role on the field well. His emotional value is unparalleled.

They're both incredibly good LB's......neither are full blown elite at their position, but they're not far off from being the best at what they do.

MLB's are just a tough position for us fans to grade, (especially in a 3-4).....without going over game film and specifically watching them play after play......

They're both great MLB's, and neither is going anywhere........

David Harris without question had one of the worst performances of his entire career......it sucks, but sometimes that happens.

Scott makes Harris an even better MLB......just as he did for Ray Lewis in Baltimore........but don't get things twisted, David Harris is the a great MLB all on his own.

I think Harris is very good, great is fine but I think it gets thrown around too much. I just never see him get off blocks. He tackles like a beast, he just needs help from the scheme to perform at his peak.

Scott does A LOT of dirty work that goes unnoticed. If you go back and watch some game film (i.e. whatever games you have on your DVR or DVD), you will see how many times he gives up his body to take out the lead blocker or pulling O-Linemen to enable Pace/Harris or even a safety to step into the hole and make a tackle.

He is overrated in the sense that he does not make many game-changing standout plays which is how most players these days are gauged. However he is underrated in the credit he is given for his contributions. He may not be worth his entire contract, but he is not going anywhere and we need him.
