yeah but by the time he makes up his mind or anyone else of substance becomes available, it might be to late.

it ould be, if our starters don't get healthy, if this is finall the year marino doesn't just have a bad few weeks but has begun to lose it but those are some big if's. We'll see what happens, as of now I still feel confident that ths will be just like the last 2 years where we had the slow starts and still won the division.

Could be. After Pettitte, Mussina and Wang we don't have anything of substance now. Anybody may be an improvement (I can't comment on Hughes until he pitches at least one game).

I highly doubt that, the only teams that are happy to lose World Series are teams like the Astros who are just happy to be there and are completely overwhelmed and Yankee fans who like to make it seem ok that they lost them because the Mets aren't there. Face it nobody is happy to lose the World Series.

In 2000 the Mets were just happy to be there and ANY ML team would wishes they had the "failures" of the Yanks this decade as we have as many Championships as any other team and more league pennants.

If you are built and want a championship, you are not at all pleased to finish second. You think the Detroit Tigers are happy they finished second last year? Only Junc could enter a 30 man race and then say I am real happy to come in second.

hmm..only a met fan could have read my post that way. What I said was any other team would be happy to be in the world series. If you think they wouldn't, take a poll.

I think the term happy is best applied as how they feel when the series starts. I think this is an appropriate quote "I am very happy to be here, but will be very disappointed if we don't win."

Or the guy that is taking the hot girl out on a date expecting to get laid.
"I am very happy to take her out, but will be real disappointed if I don't get laid". If the guy does not get laid, would you term that courtship successful?

Obviously nobody wants to lose the WS but you certainly will never win it if you're not in it. (Sounds like a catchy quote for the lottery, doesn't it?) And there isn't a team I know that wouldn't want to be in it to have that chance of winning.

hey weren't happy at the time, nobody is happy losing but looking back a team that wasn't expected to contende for the playoffs, was a havy unerdog in the LDS getting the WS was a HUGE accomplishment and I guarantee you Detroit was more than satisfied w/ their AL pennant last year.

In 2000 everyone knew the Mets had no shot to win so you weren't happy to be there? it beats losing in the LCS, right? and for a team like the Mets who had only 3 WS appearances in the history prior to 2000 and appearance is special whether you win or lose.

I'll put a football perspective on this. Do you think if Buffalo had it all to do over again they wouldn't still have wanted to play those 4 super bowls that they lost?

Or even better, do you think anybody on this board wouldn't have preferred to have the Jets in their place even if it meant losing them at the time?

The argument is just ridicoulous as is so much that I read here.

Absolutely Buffalo would go back, the only team they should have beat was the Giants- the other 3 games they had no shot as they were clearly inferior and yes as a Jet fan I would have waned 4 AFC Titles- I would have hated to lose 4 SBs but it would have been better than never getting there.

Exactly............it's dissapointing as hell to lose but the one thing you will never forget is that at the opening kickoff the score was 0-0 and you had a chance to win. You sure as hell had no chance if you were home watching the game on TV.

Thats all fine, but don't treat Buffalo like heroes. They are not looked upon as being Super Bowl Champs 1a for each year they lost. They lost. And have been ridiculed for it. In the same light, you try to give the Yankees "credit" for having lost two World Series since 2001. It doesn't work that way.

Teams deserve credit for winning their league orconference. They don't get treated like World Champs but theydeserve credit and winning 1 WS and reaching 3 this decade is better than winning 1 and reaching 1 or losing 1 and reaching 1.

It's so much fun how met fans care more about the Yanks losing then they do about the Mets winning.

Its funny how you care about what Met fans care about more then the train wreck of a 200 million dollar team in the Bronx.
