It's nice to see Favre at the center of an unraveling team that for once, isn't my own.

Eggs-ackly. If Mangini becoms the Brownies' next head coach, I figure that they'll be mired in mediocrity for another ten years or so.

Also, the article completely ignores the fact that Eric Mangini, HC of the NYJ, made the decision to keep Favre in every play of every game down the stretch oif the season, even though his HOF QB had a "shredded arm." What, is this guy a Mangenius now?

And Pennington's "one and done" with the 'fins begs this question: What if Mangini had squeaked into the playoffs and lost the first game? Was that going to save his job? OR was Woody looking for a bit more than that after spending $140 in the offseason, and trading for Favre?

I'd love to know the answer to that.

Just curious: what other team besidesthe Jets is it that unravelled while Favre was playing for it?

The only thing more lame than blaming Favre all the Jets' 2008 problems -- which is actually primarily defensive breakdowns! -- is Packers fans blaming him for their 2008 problems -- which were also mostly defensive -- after he was already long gone!

On that note, "12 > 4" is a terrible username for a Jets message board. Go back to where you belong!

-Problem is Chad is a solid regular season QB against AVG opponents, but will never scare a pressure defense enough to open anything up --as shown yesterday
    - Mangini came in as a defensive guy and we struggled...rumors out this weekend say mangini scrapped defensive game plane after the Denver game and tried to install new schemes that back fired
    - Every year a team comes back from the dead people think it lasts from season to season and vice versa -- Jets 10-6 to 4-12, Browns were supposed to be contenders this season, Seattle shit the bed, the Titans lose Vince Young to a break down in week one and are the top seed in the AFC, the Falcons and Ravens ride rookie coaches and QBs to the playoffs - NFL is all about parity and each year something new happens
    - to say the jets will struggle in 09 is pointless - same way saying the Dolphins will win 14 games is -- if the Dolphins turn the ball over 3+times a game they win 5 games....so just relax

Pennington had a decent year because his OL line protected him and the coaching staff kept the ball out of his hands as much as they could with the wildcat. If he had played for the Jets he would have been killed. He would have never survived the hits Favre took and we would have been lucky to have won 7 or 8 games.

If he had stayed with and started for the Jets they offense would have run very differently....limited downfield passing, more running. mor screens. more Brad Smith....would have been a very different team scoring 21 points or less per game and playing ball control
