It reminds me of kids whose parents do nothing but praise them even when undeserved who get out in the real world and realize an altogether different fate. Your friend Rex is the dad and his weak players are the kids
I'm kind of tired of the "Rex's days are numbered" comments with practically ANY loss. Seems they can't wait to stir up crap wherever our Jets are concerned. None of us like what we're seeing, but it's not like we're quitting or even getting our asses kicked.
I'm sure it took me a lot less time than it took you to earn the money to pay for your overpriced seats.
Ok, we get it. You don't like Rex. Move on to a different topic already. I don't think these players are coming in with Mental Toughness. It was one of my main concerns about Geno, and it's proving to be true.
Boo the owner and the overall product that they are putting on the field, not the players. The players are out there actually working and do not get that much money for what they do. This isn't baseball, football is a brutal game that does not foster a normal post-career lifestyle. Most of the players end up misusing money but that is not really for us to say. Someone else is making the real money, and people think it is the players because their contracts are so publicized, when really that is a small sum of what's really going on. My point is, berating a professional athlete to his face is weak. I personally would never say anything to a player separated by a fence that I wouldn't say to him in a room together. Using the excuse they make a lot of money is not fair considering what they sacrifice. It's one thing to chant for the backup, but its another to personally call out a player to his face. It was stupid of Geno to respond and especially in the way he did, but I'm not taking part in the sheer irony of me calling an athlete out on his performance, regardless of how much money I'm spending. I'll boo the overall product any day and I have, but getting personal with players is just stupid.
Dear Wilkerson, I don't want to be all-in with you. I've been a fan over thirty years; my attachment to the franchise far exceeds a need for your approval of my status as a fan. I want to be all-in on Super Bowl caliber Jets teams. I don't want to have anything to do with non-championship-competitive teams; yours is currently non-championship-competitive. I am an entertainment consumer, not an imbecile. I pay to be entertained - watching the same players sh-t away games in the same fashion every other week for 5 years is not entertaining; it's embarrassing. It's not your fault, but if you're protecting incompetent teammates? It kinda becomes your fault. Just like it's Rex's fault for playing him and Idzik's fault for not having someone better here. Kindly kiss my ass. The end. -UnhappyJetsFan PS: Go win (a title) ... then you can complain that I'm not faithful enough as a fan. Until then? STFU.
People who think the number of zeros on a paystub should change a player from a human being with motivations and frailties to a highly paid robot with no emotions are just idiots.
They can have all the emotions they want. As soon as they start to criticize me personally? I don't feel compelled to refrain from putting them back in their place.
Its called being a professional. You put your emotions on the bench and go do your job. Injured, pissed off, embarrassed? If you're a true professional, it doesn't matter when you're on the job. You don't get paid to get mad at the fans for booing. You get paid to make plays at your position. Nothing else should matter except letting your play do your talking.
I think what Mo was saying is that it sucks when they're out there killing themselves playing as hard as they can only to have his own 'fans' screaming insults. Mo said that's doesn't get him motivated like cheering fans do. So when TGG says things like "They're getting paid millions they shouldn't need motivation" I say bull shit, they're still humans with feelings/emotions.
Well made point. I think a lot of people are missing the distinction between booing the team and personally attacking an individual player.
I think that's true. However painful it may be, when your "best" isn't good enough, THAT hurts more than the booing ever could. Booing is a hard slap in the face if you think you're putting out 100% and 30K people don't agree with you. This is the price that you have to pay. What was that old saying: "You have to pay the cost, to be the boss". What that means is, you don't get judged by the same standards Joe 6pack does. You're not on their level and the expectation isn't the same. You're a professional athelete and you have to be able to accept what comes with that. You're gonna get booed. You're gonna be adored too. You're gonna win and you're gonna lose. That's just the way it is. The real choice is, can you accept that or not... If you can, you have a long future in professional sports. If you can't, get out now and do something else less demanding for a living because at the end of the day, playing football is your profession. It's your job. It's how you feed your family. No one forces Wilk to play Pro Football. He can walk any time he wants. If he chooses to be a NFL player he doesn't get to cherry pick how the job works. Nobody does. It's the nature of the job. Either accept it or move on.
So you only want to be a fan of winning teams?...thats not being a real fan thats a bandwagon fan. Then to say win a championship before he can complain about your unnecessary complaints?? Id imagine him saying how bout you make it to the NFL and do better before you can complain about his work. The players put forth their best effort every game and when it doesnt go well they know. They are actually playing and losing these games so they know better than us when its not going well, you attacking them doesnt help. Bottom line, in this capitalist society, voice your complaints with your dollar. You dont like the product dont buy tickets.
Lol i love big Mo but bruh... this is a personal problem. Nobody feels bad about booing their team after spending all this time and money at the games. Play good, they cheer, play bad (consistently)....get boo'd. its really that simple. You want cheers from the fans? how about you EARN IT WHILE YOUR PLAYING AT HOME! It's not like were 3-1
