I can see his agent saying that. But I can see Pioli asking him if he wants another ring, or to start in shitty cities (not that NE isn't a shitty region of the country). Cassel might choose winning over starting. But the money might be too enticing. hmmmm I'm going to wait and see...
yep...it'll be interesting to see how that turns out. IMO...i think he signs elsewhere....he's got his rings....i'm sure he's looking for the big "pay window" while his stock is on the rise. I think Minny would be a good place for him...stout o-line, decent wideouts, best HB in the game, and a stellar defense.
As a backup he will make 3 million tops. As a starter he will make 8 million minimum. (Not my numbers, they were talking about this on ESPN the other day) I don't think it will be much of a decision.
I'd take Cassell, but not for the bananaheaded numbers I read last week. And yet, I understand that the market will likely fetch that for him in places like Detroit or Minnesota. The knock on Cassell now is the same knock on Tom Brady in his first year starting - that his game was just all dinks and dunks. His game changed the more he played. Plus, he has legs that Brady never had. Not saying that he's anywhere NEAR the level of a Tom Brady, or ever will be. I'm saying that, if it's a matter of paying money to a first round dope like Jamarcus Russell or paying someone like Cassell who seems to be able to play, that question seems to answer itself.
cassell isn't a good qb. he had two or three throws that were good, about 7-8 throws that looked horrible. we were unlucky to get a couple of INTs there. it's not that great an accomplishment to get 400 yards when you're dumping off for the most part against a prevent defense.
The Nfl is not loyal to the players like that any more especially that these players cry over everything all these hold outs and injuries.. Every draft they go into wether its QB RB etc... Believe you me they take a look at every position in the draft wether your franchise or a bench warmer you are expendable. They want the next best thing and every team is looking for those players that will take them to the promise land. If the FO was full of Pyshics and they could predict the future and they know they would win a superbowl that year by getting rid of Tom Brady and keeping cassell he would be gone in a minute... And with most teams once a QB gets an injury he most likely ends up being traded within a couple of years.. And if Tom Bradys injury takes another year he will defenantly not be there... Did you ever think Drew Bledsoe would have been over taken by Tom Brady when he was playing good and before his injury.
can you say Scott Mitchell? The Lions actually gave Mitchell TWO bad contracts--that is why they are annual doormats year end year out.
