I wonder....if there's an alternate universe....and in that alternate universe Mike and Rex decided to sign Braylon Edwards and bring back Cochery and Brad Smith (and not pursue Nmandi Ashomouga).....and the Jets went 11-5 and won the AFC East (beating the Patriots in that SNF game to put them at 5-4 and eventually a 10-6 WC playoff team).....and then they beat Texas and Baltimore to advance to the Super Bowl. And GangGreen.com has 35 threads on the Jets going to the SB !!! :-(
That's because it would've happened.... ...then again....the x-factor would still be Wayne Hunter playing like ass so maybe it might not have been all that different from this year......or maybe it might've? Who knows?
Ray Lewis is a thug and should be in jail from his actions in that homicide years ago . HE'S A CRIMINAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why do you keep dwelling on one fluke game over a year ago? You do realize that these same teams played two games THIS YEAR with a much different outcome.
You do realize that if the Jets only split with the Pats this year they would have made the playoffs, right?
Well said Roger, This is the bottom line on Rex, how he handles the lessons that have been given to him this year will go a long way in determining his long term future with the Jets or any other club for that matter. This year will certainly be a test of Rex's abilities to adjust and learn from his mistakes and correct them to become the HC I believe he envisions himself to be... If Rex can do this we will have our HC for many years to come, yet if he falls into the same personality traps that lead to how this year ended, then Rex is destine to be a fantastic DC for the rest of his NFL career....
Ha! I think you may be the one who's dwelling on it, bud. My comment really had nothing to do with who's gotten the best of the Jets-Pats rivalry the last few years.
Rex is ALSO running out of time as his contract expires after the 2013 season & if we have a dreadful 2012 season then Woody would have to think real hard about extending him
Fans will still pine for them even if they finish with 5 wins, they did it for Herm, they did it for Penny. Shit Penny got a free pass for ONE season and ONE playoff game vs. the Colts, Sancheeses AFCCG losses should get him a decade. Jets fans can never separate business and personal. These same fools want to bring back Braylon to try and relive two years ago, but in reality he's a wide out coming off two knee surgeries. Fact is Rex has had terrible drafts, basically zero impact players at this point from all of his drafts. His QB has completely regressed, his defense is overrated. He lost control of the locker room, his Captain receiver quits on the team and is somehow still on the roster. The team is a hot mess right now and it all falls on Rex. If they tank in 2012 which I don't see how they don't, they all need to go.
We should get a new HC and QB every time we have a "down" season, that will be sure to help us build a consistent winner! I wish the Giants used your philosophy b/c Eli and Coughlin would have been gone before they ever won a SB.
My guess knowing lots of posters around here is that a bad year from Sanchez will tip the numbers against him even more, but a hard core of fans will continue making excuses for him. Expect the "Sparano was not the right pick for OC!" defense, on cue, if Sanchez plays more mediocre football. But... something tells me that Rex is on a shorter leash, partly because for those of us who are Jet Fans and not Sanchez Fans, we hold him accountable for his continued support of Sanchez. If Rex can guide the team back into the playoffs next year, good for him, and however he does it, that would be to his credit. But if they don't make it, even the Sanchez Fans will turn on him despite his support for Mark. So far Rex is the only one that a majority of Sanchez Fans have not thrown under the bus, but that will change if they don't make it. As for Tanny, I frankly think he should be demoted or even fired already.
Harbaugh's game management at the end of the game was horrible. On 2nd and or 3rd and 1, you run the ball, get a 1st down and call time out. 20 seconds left, 2 shots and then a possible field goal. And check this out, I am not sure the team new what down it was. The coach should have hade the kicker right next to him.
