The baseball analogy posted above doesn't work. Rotator cuffs are not the problems for pitchers that they are for NFL qbs both because of the differing weights and shapes of the balls and the throwing motion that results. It's injuries to the labrum that scare baseball pitchers while NFL quarterbacks like Brees usually recover quite nicely from them. As for the orthopedist, I have a customer who's an orthopedist. I asked him about the injury in general and he said that the rotator cuff and the shoulder capsule (both of which Chad had surgery on) are the worst for a pro quarterback. I asked him about Chad's injury in particular and he replied, "I haven't seen the shoulder or the scans, how would I know?" Thought it was a good answer.
