27-21 J-E-T-S..Not really confident but we can hope. One way or the other, this game is a big statement, a lot like the NE game; the next two weeks actually. If the Jets can somehow split the next two weeks 1-1, it could be big.
The colts are banged up. allowed about 200 yds rushing vs. the jags. For the jets, we have a weak running game, a young D that can give up a lot of yds. This could be a potential shootout. If Chad is able to pick apart the secondary, we'll be able to trade blow for blow w/ the Colts. However, a shootout is playing Colts stlye of football and we'll run out of firepower as the game comes to a close. Colts 45 Jets 38 (will be the best game of the week)
I think the Jets have a better shot at beating jax in 2 weeks but as long as they don't get blown out I'm happy. It's obvious that D Rhodes and J addai are not equal to 1 Edge but the only way to beat Peyton is to rattle him early and I don't see our D rattling him so I think the Colts win easily 24-10. the jets will hang for 3 quaters but indy will put us away late .
I expect the Colts to win, but I feel better about this game than the Pats game for a few reasons. 1. Our main struggles on defense have been stopping the run, and Indianapolis has not run the ball well this year without James. Our secondary isn't great, but it's solid, if we don't have to bring 8 up in the box to focus on a running back, I don't see us getting torched by Manning. 2. Mangini at least had something to do with the Patriot defenses that have forced Manning to struggle so many times. 3. Chad always has played really well against the Colts I'm predicting a Colts win, but an upset here wouldn't be shocking to me either.
You bring up a lot of solid points here, and I agree with the outcome. One of the many benefits of not having Herm as our fearless leader is not having to read the stories about Dungy and Herm this week, how they won't be talking this week but their wives might, how much respect they have for oneanother, etc. The Dungy tree is looking a little suspect these days (Herm, Marrinelli). Not sure I trust Lovie in a big spot yet.
My prediction is the Jets run a 3-3-5 defense most of the day with 3 corners on the field and a good helping of blitzing linebackers and safety's. The Colts lead going into halftime 17-10 and then get at most one TD after the break. Jet's 27-24 as Mangini begins to cement his rep as a coach who makes a big difference with halftime adjustments. Chad leads the Jets to his fourth rally of the season and they've got 3 wins out of them. Manning is gesturing like a madman to spike the ball with 3 seconds to go as the Colt's last ditch drive fails. Might not be that way, but that's how I'm gonna envision it all week.
I think the key thing a lot of you are missing is that Pennington won't make the same mistakes that Eli and Leftwich made in the last 2 of 3 weeks. Think about it. That said, the defensive matchups are bad -- I don't like our secondary against the colts passing offense... that's the real matchup here, not the run defense or our offense. We'll put points up on them, that much is a guarantee... I could see us putting up 21-28 points like we did this week... We'll have to wait and see, but it's going to be closer than a lot of people out there think right now.
Score I'm going with 31-17 for the Colts. The Jets will be in it right until the end...a costly turnover that Manning will capitalize on. Pennington plays well against the Colts.
This game all boils down to, we will need our best defensive showing by far to win ths game. Manning must be contained and we must put pressure on him. If he is allowed to just hang back there and throw he will kill us everytime. This will require defensive genius and the ability to adjust rapidly during the game for us to win. On offense, let's just keep doing what we are doing. The only thing I would like to change is; there is no crime in putting points on the board in the first quarter. Let's stick with Barlowe and I loved the spelling of him with Washington, Houston, and Smith late in the 3rd and 4th against the Bills. Also, no stupid mistakes. We have had some annoying penalties this year at bad times. We have to be more aware of that and do a better job. I do not want to take any credit, but it's almost as if Mangini read some of my posts last week. No I am not getting an ego head, nor do I really think he read my posts, nor do I think he would care if he did, but coincidently they did pretty much what I wanted them to do based on Blaylock being ineffective. I like our coach because he is willing to change and adapt. He is not locked into one thing. He appears very open minded to do what needs to be done or at least try to do something to affect change and make the Jets better each and every week. Kudos Jets.
I hate Indy just as much as everyone here hates the, Patsies. I live in Indiana, and this is the game of the year that I look forward to most. My family always gives me shit for being a NY fan, and I always give them shit about the 41-0 playoff loss they recieved in the Playoffs. Good times. So the Jets just have to win, for the love of god, they must win! It should be a close game, IMO. Colts has a decent Passing D, and they are currently ranked 9th overall. As where our Passing D is terrible, we average 253yds a game on D, and we are ranked 27th in Passing D. That will probably be a HUGE focus during practice this week. Our run D is about the same for both teams, (28th Colts, 25th Jets) and I hope that we can get a good game from our running game. If we can run down their throats, and have the ability to pass, we will be in good shape. Both of these teams are struggling in the run game, but we both have a spark going for us in the running game. We have recently discovered that L. Washington is a big factor in our backfield, and C. Houston may do some good things for us given that chance. The colts have J.Addai, and he is showing a lot of promise, but has not been given a solid chance yet due to him being a rookie. I expect that he will be on the field a lot more against us for some reason. I am glad we have a really good punter that will give us a good chance with field position, but I somehow doubt this game will be about field postion. Although I think if we could manage a game like that, it would be a huge advantage for us. Regardless, I think that this game will be close, and high.. Jets- 35 Colts- 31 Jets Total D- 18th Overall Colts Total D- 17th Overall
1. Jets have advantage on turnovers... 5 INTs to their 1. 2. Barlow is getting better. Their feature back Rhodes looks like a zero. 3. The QBs and receivers are a wash. 4. This is a home game, and the Jets crowd is gonna be krazee! I take the Jets 20-17.
I don't know if we'll win but I certainly think it will be closer than it was in '03. Indy has no more running game, and we have a stronger Chad, Coles is back and playmakers in the secondary.
How about tiny miniature Jets vs. the Colts? Hmm.. miniature Jets 35 Colts 3. How about Eric Mangini vs. the Colts? Mangini 14 Colts 10, he barely gets by. Oh wait - Mangini isn't miniature? I change my prediction... Mangini 21 Colts 3
Hopefully Mangini brought some secrets from the Pats about Manning. We can stay in the game if we have a no turnover game and can be +2/+3 in turnovers. Lots of blitzing and more of Leon Washington and we have a chance of winning this game but don't bet the house on it. Go Jets! Just get out there and cheer on this team which is more fun than we thought it would be.
