if you want to knit pick:

Rhodes- a 6th rounder that started only worthy of a B??? uhhhh ok???
Askew- giving a guy a D- who played behind sowell for 2 years isnt very logical considering you gave B. Thomas a B+....1st rd. bust vs. 3rd rd. backup
McKenzie- is A material for the 3rd round...he held down the fort pretty damn well
Nugent- Herm could deflect blame?? was that an attempt to sound intelligent?

lets face it...i had more to disagree with then I initially wrote..but your B.Thomas grade was pretty funny...im sorry i hurt your feelings but Mike Nugent was a better pick then a C

    again i find myself:rofl:

Stop trying to defend the Nugent pick. A kicker in round two? You gotta be kidding me. Doug Brien did better last year than Nugent and we could have had him for free if Herm didn't throw him under the bus. No, I didn;t have to think too long about this lousy pick.

The reason Bryan Thomas got a generous grade and McKenzie didn't is that Thomas will start at DE next year and McKenzie doesn't have a roster spot on our team. Also, more than 20 teams passed on Ed Reed. That arguement doesn't hold water. A lot of teams passed on Tom Brady but that doesn't mean that their picks were bad.

Rhodes got a B based upon one good year. If he strings together two or three good years in a row his grade improves. Its not like he had much competition for the starting job.

Askew, much like Nugent, plays a position that is not vital for a team's success. Drafting a fullback in round three makes no sense even if he does start. Given the talent available in round four of that draft this pick was horrible.

I didn't check all of your numbers but that would be interesting, although I don't agree that he is necessarily better. Based on your numbers he has about the same amount of tackles per game but seems to get more sacks. I bet that is way scewed though because of that one game Ellis had without Abe a couple of years ago when he had like 4 sacks or something (was it St. Louis, I can't remember but will look it up). Not to mention that when Abe plays he is getting to the QB much faster than Ellis so of course Shaun's sack numbers are down. When I made the statement, I went off of memory especially of the 03 season. That year in 6 games playing with Abe, Shaun had 26 tackles and 7 sacks. In 10 games without him he only had 21 tackles and 5.5 sacks. I still don't believe he is better without him, but if I get a chance I'll look at the numbers a little closer. Definitely a good discussion point....
