The Browns already beat the Steelers and would like nothing more than to walk into Pittsburgh week 17 and end their season
True statement. Think the Ravens beating the Bengals is more doable than Cleveland beating Pitt, no? Either way, we are still alive, which was unthinkable a few weeks ago.
And they'd hold the division tie-breaker over the Bengals if they both finished 9-7, so yeah...seems better if the Steelers lose again next week, then the Bengals somehow lose the last week.
So basically, my understanding is we either want Indy to lose out (highly unlikely) or Pitt to lose to Concy next week, then Cincy losing to Balt the next week putting us in a tie with Cincy, in which we would win out...correct?
1) Pitt needs to lose 1 of their next 2. Hopefully Pittsburgh loses to Cinci to give them their 8th loss, but if that doesn't happen we need them to lose to Cleveland in week 17. 2) Cinci needs to lose 1 of their next 2. If they beat Pittsburgh, we need them to lose to Baltimore week 17. 3) Indy plays @ KC next week. If somehow they lose, they play Houston week 17. If Indy ends up 9-7, it does not matter what records Pitt or Cinci end up (obviously they can't go 10-6) with because the Jets have the best conference record.
Yahoo playoff generator is saying: 1) If we win out, CIN beats PIT or a TIE BAL beats CIN we are in. 2) If we win out PIT beats CIN IND loses to KC and HOU we are in as the 5 seed!
Jets playoff scenarios: 1) Win out AND Bengals beat Steelers AND Ravens beat Bengals 2) Win out AND Steelers beat Bengals AND Browns beat Steelers 3) Win out AND Colts lose out
Forget the colts for a second because they will not lose to KC. It's basically like this....Jets must win out obviously. We need both the steelers and bengals to go 1-1. So who do you root for next week? Whichever one you think has a better chance to lose week 17.
Jets can't be in control of their own destiny as long as Steers have a chance to match their record (since Pitt has the head to head matchup). They also are screwed if both Bengals & Colts have 10 wins. ideal scenario: - Bengals beat Steelers (will give the Steelers 8 losses) - Bengals lose the next game to Ravens (Bengals & Jets both 9-7 & gets win tie-breaker) === If Colts lose the next two (to Chiefs & Texas) then they'll also be 9-7 & Jets have head to head tie breaker over them.
We also need a result next week that gives the Ravens an incentive to beat the Bengals in Week 17. They've already snared a WC spot.
2 Spots left... 4 Teams still alive. 5th seed COLTS 9-5 6th seed BENGALS 8-6 In the hunt STEELERS 7-7 JETS 6-7 DOLPHINS 6-8
OMG you guys. You're all talking about what OTHER teams need to do. It doesn't matter. The Jets will NEVER...WIN....OUT. Have you all watched this team this season???? We SUCK! Scoring an average of 10 points a game ain't gonna cut it. Look to next season. Right now we stink!
if we want things to go our way root for the Giants next week. Ravens need to be playing for something week 17. just did the calculations.
