It doesn't look like he mistimed his jump at all. He leaped as the ball was sailing over his head, just couldn't get there. Looks like a perfect throw to me. Drew Coleman still sucks balls.
Once he left his feet he naturally started slowing down; if he hadn't jumped at all, he would have been at least a foot or two closer to Collie, and would have at least knocked down the ball (if not intercepted it). I also believe that he was on his way down when this picture was taken, also because he jumped too soon.
I don't think our DBs were prepared for Manning's pinpoint accuracy... that degree. I mean, he was making throws that we just haven't seen all season... CONSISTENTLY accurate throws. We just didn't get in his face enough... bottom line. You give Peyton enough time back there and he's going to carve you up liike a Christmas turkey. That throw is a prime example of what was going on all 2nd half.
I agree - even Collie had to make an outstanding reaching catch just to get to the ball. I don't get this "mistimed" jump thing. Any other timing on the jump and he wouldn't have come even close to the ball. It was an outstanding throw by #18.
I saw the replay last night. Coleman was never going to reach that ball. Get over it. Manning said that because Manning has a shit angle far behind the play. He can't see it better than the cameras can. There was also no touchdown on that play, so I don't get the point. The Colts don't score on the play and win by 7 instead? Wow big deal.
