Why? Why not give them some game time reps and keep them warm. Its not like hurting sanchezs feelings is going to make it any worse

I think we will know Mark's future with this team at the Bye week, we have a stretch coming up where I see as realistically doing no better than 2-2, bringing us to 4-4 at the bye. If we however don't get to 2-2, and go 1-3 or 0-4, I think we can seriously see a change at QB made over the bye.

Tebow isn't the answer. If McElroy didn't get hurt last year he would have gotten some practice snaps and some game experience, then would have been ready to compete in preseason, and be in the position to take over if Sanchez needed to be benched. Instead they brought in Tebow and cut McElroy 1st team practice time to nothing. As it is he's not ready and the Jets aren't going to scrap this season yet.

Once we are out of playoff contention I can see them trying McElroy. But there is a good chance he won't play well either and then where will we be. Throw either Tebow or McElroy into the Texan game and watch them get killed. And then what will that tell you? The team is bad as whole and changing QBs isn't going to do any good.

Yeah because the QB isn't very important in the NFL, how could replacing a QB with about a 50 qbr and sub 50% completion % possibly help the team?

McElroy can't be worse than Sanchez, he is deadly accurate at short ranges ad smart as hell, he could manage this offense and at least not throw games away.

Demo, I love your logical posts they're awesome. But I forgot to tell you Rule #1 on the Gang Green - only fans who joined the board before March 2012 are allowed to talk bad about Sanchez.

Thanks Jax, though I'm not worried about "Rule #1" as I'm not saying anything bad about Sanchez as it's extremely difficult to evaluate him given the situation that he is in.

"'M TIRED Of everyone ganging up on Mark..." I would not read any newspapers, sports magazines, watch TV, go to any bars, not tell anyone I was a JETS fan and and I would stay off of the Internet, as the ganging up on Mark has just started, I believe.

He has no receiving options, no running game, no backfield receiving threat, his best weapons are hurt. I saw some bad throws an dmissed opportunities, but I also saw a lot of these new receivers cut off routes, look confused, not give 100%. Sanchez was sacked and hit numerous times just hoping someone could get open.

This is either bad route running, bad play design, or just inept game planning by Sporano. On several incompletions there were two receivers within a few yards of each other...allowing coverage over and under -- just bad.

The run game has killed Mark. His first year it helped him, and his 2nd year he strived with the decent run game. Last year and this year its just been abysmal.

He made plays for this team in those years. This isn't tennis or golf. Sanchez played his part.

Im not giving him a pass, my opinion is that he should get until the end of his 5th season. That way we know what we need to do going forward.

Im not arguing that Mark hasn't regressed. The point i'm arguing is the Skip Bayless logic these Tebow supporters love to spew. They say the same thing.

"Tebow went 8-5 and won a playoff game" well Sanchez went 9-7 and 11-5 and made it to back to back AFC championship games. They discredit Sanchez some more by saying "the defense and running game carried the team" well the Broncos defense kept them in the game long enough for Tebow to win the game in the end. Not to mention that they had a great running game.

Why can't he be worse? Backup QB is always the most popular player on the team. Besides your unfounded hope he will be better what is your concrete reasons? If he was better don't you think he would have won the job in preseason? There is a lack of skill at the receiver position, our best WR could be out next week, etc. Given how little practice time McElroy has had why do you think he's going to perform better with this core of receivers against one of the best teams in the NFL?

Sanchez completed what ? 30% of his passes today ?

He doesn't deserve any blame, he's a very good QB...

People are lying to themselves, Sanchez has been awful.

A QB is only going to be as good as his receivers -- I watched the game today and saw some misses but on most plays he had no where to throw, had no check down options, and no running game to keep a defense honest.

They just flooded the secondary and the Jets did nothing to counter that - screens, pitches, sending Powell out as a check down option -- just no adjustment with this useless receivers

Sanchez is the best crappy QB in the NFL. lets blame the receivers and everybody else on the team not named Sanchez.

And the "part" he played was not one of a leader, he threw passes, scored TDs, turned the ball over a few times, but he didn't lead this team to those victories, it's ludicrous to say that he was actually the one who led us to those playoff wins.

4 playoff victories that he happened to be a part of do no merit him a blank check and keep him safe from losing his job, only a super bowl victory will do that, and he has not delivered in that regard and never will.

Pennington played much better than Sanchez in his time here, and he was run out of town, Sanchez is no different. He can't live off of the successes of the 2009 and 2010 teams for the rest of his career, it's year 4, how many years is it going to take for the investment in him as the #5 overall pick to finally pay off? 5 years? 6 years? 7 years? a career long period of QB development and learning?

mc elroy can scramble, and unlike sanchez, doesn't get that deer in the headlights look. even tebow gives you that option, but he can't pass as well as mcelroy. both have results as college qbs in a major team/conference, and not just for one year only.

pete carroll was right. sanchez came out way too early.
