This thread is pathetic on tons of levels. To root for your team to lose especially when they are only 1-4 is pathetic. While my patience is running very thin on Chad, if it isn't already gone I will still support him for a turn around season while there is still a chance. Hoping to lose just so that a new QB who may or may not work out is a dumb a thought that I've ever seen. The rate of having a new QB take you to the super bowl anytime in his career is not very high. So there is no reason to root for this nonsense, Clemens time will come whether it is next year, later this year, next week, or even this week no matter what we do, but rooting for the worst is as bad as a fan can go.
I SOOOO want to disagree with this post as a fan, but the truth of the matter is that Chad has no business whatsoever starting this week. All NFL coaches seem to delay this decision many weeks longer than it should be made. I know that Mangini can see the lack of performance in Chad, but he is just afraid to bench the "Captain" and make the right move. Another bad day from Chad is likely what we need to force his hand. The Clemens era needs to start now.
I don't want our team to perform badly. We need a solid quarterback to compete. I feel bad for Pennington, but he isn't that qb and his days are numbered.. the sooner we can move on the better.
Since when is it ok to accept Clemens coming in by default. How about he earns it instead....I doubt its blind loyalty thats getting Pennington in the game. Clemens would have already been in if there was no question that he was the better QB at this point in time. Obviously, my patience with Penny has run out, but I want Clemens to come in because he is ready, not because he has to.
Clemens is ready and it is blind Loyalty that is keeping Chad in. Clemens played better in 1 Qtr and completed more downfield passes in than Chad has all year. Mangini's loyalty to Chad is why he has not been benched yet.
I bolded the fall of your argument....while its obvious that he played better in 1 Quarter, he may not be ready. I dont think Mangini is that loyal to chad, why should he be?
Clemens can Throw better than Chad, If Mangini drafted him he is smart, He showed he can run better than Chad, It took him 3 qtrs to find Baker for a T/D and not three years like Chad, and he handled getting sacked better than Chad. If it is not Loyalty that is Keeping Chad in then what else could it be? That 4th quarter in Baltimore proved he is ready. We need to have him ready to win by the time the team is and that is not now so let him take his lumps when is does not matter. The Kid is ready stop making excuses to end the Pennington era? Do you think this team can rebound? If not then it makes no sense to keep Chad in.
Because he still can't figure out exactly how the Jets won 10 games last year and he's desperately hoping that Chad can pull a rabbit out of a hat and win 10 this year? Even though the odds on that are 1000-1? I think we're all giving Mangini more credit that he's due at the moment. This is a bad Jets team and it happened on his watch. And I don't care about the rebuilding arguments. You can rebuild and go 7-9 or 8-8 if you know what you are doing. this Jets team looks worse on the field than the 2005 team that was decimated by injuries. How may key injuries has Mangini had to deal with so far? Zero?
I think there is certainly a question as to whether he (Clemens) is the better overall QB at this time but no question that he has strengths (no pun intended) that Chad does not. Chad's advantages might be intelligence and experience. Clemens can gain "intelligence" and experience only through reps in regular season.
1 just to be accurate, and I think the smoke and mirrors has more to do with our defense than it ever had with our offense
Dont get me wrong, I want Clemens to start this week just as much as anybody, but if he doesnt, its because hes not ready....but I feel his time is very near, so we all need to sit tight and support Chad until that time comes
I would have to agree with everyone. If Chad plays decent, then Clemens will not play and gain experience and the best we can hope for is competition in camp.
This is a good point and my sentiments. I can't bring myself to dis Chad, not long ago he was the saviour of this franchise and deserves better than the some of the barbs flying around. If Kellens is the future so be it but Chad has carried himself with humility through some tough years and I will always regard him as a great Jet QB who never got a break, (no puns here please).
Granted its not the QB position, but I find it hard to believe Revis was more "ready" than any of our other corners technically, and yet he starts probably because he has more physical or natural ability than the others. Clemens certainly has more physical ability than Chad. Anyway, I will support whoever is in and debate these issues on here until the cows come home.
QFT Denver has had tons of problems resulting in their poor play this season, the least of which was the decision to play Cutler.
im a huge chad fan, but i said last week lets give him one more chance, and he was a total let down, bring in clemens please
The Eagles are gonna bring the kitchen sink on chad and he better be ready because if he has a multiple INT first half...he is DONE. No way will Mangini tolerate this for three straight weeks. Kellen Clemens better be ready. I am not expecting our entire team to feed off of Clemens, but it would be nice to see our offense become better once he does step in.
