i was saying that earlier in the year also, but after really analyzing it; it's simply not true. You have to look at our blocking TE as an extension of our O line, because he really is. Hunter had a pretty decent stretch of games last year after woody got hurt in the Texans game(he was AWFUL in that game, but he got thrown in the fire against Mario Williams), but he was in no way "dominant". He's shown that he's capable of playing a few games in a row well to above average, but stretch out that sample size to a full year and you see why he's a career backup. The drop off from hartsock to mulligan is considerable. Hartsock has some notable penalties that cost us (including one on a FG kick that cost us the buffalo game in 09) but the guy was pretty rock solid and underrated as a blocking TE. Mulligan is AWFUL in pass protection. I mean, just god awful. he's decent(at times) in the running game if he's not committing retarded penalties but he's never really had to pass protect in his career and that's a huge issue. he was not ready to jump in and play as the starter
Fair enough, I don't disagree with you here at all. My hope is that the rest of the talent on offense is enough to offset that the rest of the way. I know they haven't shown the ability to do that the past two weeks, but the three weeks prior the offense was fine. They're talented enough to turn it around IMO. Like I've said, the offense has looked this bad on multiple occasions over the past two seasons, and they've gotten it together.
I wasn't even angry when Tebow ran it in, it was just expected. My heart was already ripped out Sunday night. We were all but laying in the casket tonight and the door just slammed shut.
