Colin loves Sam. The Jets set Sam up to fail. Now Colin trashes the Jets/Zach Wilson and talks 24/7 about the Panthers. This is not rocket science. It's a waste of time.
Yep … that’s how it works. One star … two bumpy roads … one bust. Everyone knows that. Seriously … what a f#$king imbecile.
I think both play a part in whether they're successful or whether they fail. I won't accept that Bowles, Gase and Patton Oswalt didn't have a negative effect on Darnold. He sure had his part to play in it too, but the coaches are supposed to know how to bring out the best in players, and minimize their shortcomings. With Gase in particular, if there was an offensive scheme that was NOT suited to his skill set it was Gase's, and yet Gase never deviated from his plan. Now he's coaching in H.S. - and likely to screw those impressionable minds up too.
Yeah, but we can't know if he been able to stick with one good CS and scheme he might've been much better.
He might've had some better seasons early on but I don't think his peak would've been any higher. For a guy as limited arm-wise as he was, he had a pretty damn good career even with the atrocious start. He's an anomaly though in that sense.
Rich Cimini has been covering the Jets longer than any other writer; to call him a non football entertainer type media is ridiculous and also a bit pathetic. Your unnamed writer with the untitled article from the unnamed source, even if such a thing exists as you say, does not represent "literally" anything because there are 32 teams, not 23. "Literally every" means 32 when your reference is NFL General managers.
You have to appreciate the fact that some GMs didn’t evaluate QBs bc they had 0 interest in them. We can’t expect to get a fair evaluation from the Chiefs, Bills, Texans, Rams (no 1st rd picks), Miami, Chargers, Browns, Bengals, Ravens etc etc.
If you actually were a Jet fan and followed the Jets rather than just bash the Jets you would be awae of the article. Which I believe was written by Albert Breer in sports Illustrated. As this article was the best article of the off-season and the most talked about article of the off-season on this board. The article came out a month before the draft and everything it claimed was later proven true. The article confirmed what we already knew that the Jets would take Wilson. It also said that the Jets FO had two QBs rated as worth drafting, it explained how JD scouted Wilson and how each member of the FO was asked to independently look at Wilson's tape and come up with their thoughts to avoid group think. Everything which was later proven true after the draft. Breer sad that he only got answers form 23 teams as to how they rated Wilson which is why he had only 23 out of 23 teams rated Wilson as the number 2 QB. Again you would know all this is if you actually followed the Jets rather than just cherry pick information to help with your Jet bashing. Rich Cimini has no back ground in football is not an analyst just a guy with a large ego and opinion. Someone who writes stories designed to get page hits not someone serious about football. Interestingly the non football media those who were not analyst who had not played the game and and just write what others tell them the Cimini's Kiper's, Cowerd's, etc were overwhelmingly anti-Wilson. The only people hyping Wilson were coaches, NFL people and analysts who have have a background in studying QBs and offense.
We named the source, Charlie Casserly. The whole reason I made the post is because someone (maybe it was you?) said there was no way Zach Wilson was the 2nd best QB in the draft. It’s an asinine statement.
Casserly did the poll. He does it every year. Not sure what any of this matters in the grand scheme of things as only 2 GMs thought Mahomes was the best of his class while several of us here thought he was God’s gift. The vast majority of GMs thought Sam was the best in 2018. Their track record is straight ASS.
What gives someone enough credentials for you to value their opinion or what they write? If they write what you like? Do you only value former players opinions? Cimini is no different than any other writer. It's understandable to not like him, but to try to reduce his credentials because he "didn't play" is silly. Interesting to see you only listed people who didn't fall over themselves with admiration of Wilson (Cowherd, Kiper). And you follow up by making my point. What makes Albert Brewer more qualifed I.E. playing the game or working in organizations.
I trust Rich Cimini more than Joe Douglas. Cimini has been covering the Jets since JD was in high school.
