He's definitely not that light be is rather slight and on the smaller spectrum for the size of NFL quarterbacks. People buy a bit too much into listed weights. Look at the kids build. He was the perfect candidate to sit a year or half a year. Let the young receivers get their feet under them while you bring in a Dalton or Foles and let him glide into year two with a year in the system. This roster just turned over a ton along with your points about rookie coaching staff and what not. The Jets should've sat any quarterback they drafted given the fact that we're essentially returning only 3-4 offensive starters meaning pretty much none of these guys have played together.
Colin didn’t say anything that was false. The jets have the worst coaching staff in the division and the worst offensive support in the division. Those are simple facts. It doesn’t mean Zach can’t be a franchise qb, Colin is just looking at the first round stats and trying to predict the failure based on the one that looks the worst, and the evidence points to Wilson. Doesn’t mean anything though. The real tragedy is that jets fans won’t know anything more about Zach when the year is over than they do now because of how bad the roster is. It’s the same question Sam and Josh had after year one - are they not good, or can they be good with better players around them? It’ll be the same question for Zach when the year is done, essentially the same spot we’re all in now. Jets fans want success now (and that’s understandable) but it’s just not going to happen that way. This year is a wash. What is important is whether next offseason they add better talent on both sides of the ball and then see if there’s a progression from Zach from year one to year two. That will start telling you a lot.
Maybe I’m a homer but I don’t think the roster is bad. Inexperience from CS downward is our biggest hurdle this year IMHO not talent like it’s been in the past.
