The sack/fumble he lost was 100% on Chad. He had time to throw and he knew pressure was coming as he moved out to the right but instead of protecting the ball he left it hanging out there and fumbled when he got hit.
Jets | Week 14 Inactives Sun, 10 Dec 2006 12:53:55 -0800 The New York Jets have declared FB B.J. Askew, RB Derrick Blaylock, FS Eric Smith, QB Kellen Clemens, RB Kevan Barlow, OL Na'Shan Goddard, DL Rashad Moore, DL Ryan Riddle inactive for Week 14. from kffl
We actually got 2 yards on that, haha. He had a bad game, no doubt, but after a couple INTs I'd rather see him run for a few yards if he can.
You can get a grounding penalty, a Bubby Brister result, who knows? I'm not saying getting sacked and fumbling was the way to go, my point is the whole team pretty much sucked yesterday. He could have completed a 50 yard pass on that one, we still lose the game.
Him and the whole team. The whole NFL, for that matter. Explain how the great Tony Romo and the great Bill Parcells get destroyed at home. It happens, I didn't think we were winning out and going 11-5.
Seems like a cop out to me. Obviously this isn't the first time this year that Chad has struggled and for the most part his struggles have been predictable. It's enough already.
For you it is. You're never going to do anything but complain, win or lose, so why even watch the games? You were telling me a few months back that the playoffs were unreachable, now you're saying they don't matter because we won't win the Super Bowl because you don't like Chad. Was the game at New England predictable? Last week at Green Bay? He's supposed to light everyone up every week? What exactly do you think Clemens would do if you threw him to the lions with a playoff berth on the line? Jay Cutler, anyone?
Yeah, I said the playoffs were unreachable. Guess what? The Jets aren't going to make the playoffs. I'm talking about Chad's performances being predictable, not the results of the games themselves. NE was certainly a suprise win but Chad hardly played well. As I said Cleveland was the only game that deviated from the norm as Chad usually plays pretty well against those types of teams.
Does that explain how Miami beats New England 21-0 or Seattle loses to the Cardinals? The whole league is wacky from week to week, the Jets are no exception. Blame Chad if you want, put another guy in, it won't change that.
It has to be obvious to even the biggest Chad supporter that he is no longer capable of taking us to the Promised Land. EVERY QB has pressure put on him. The thing that separates good (great) QB's from mediocre ones is how well they take the pressure and still function. Elway... Marino... Montana... the great ones... they all played under plenty of pressure. But they kept their wits about them and didn't turn it into a f*cking Chinese Fire Drill. If Pennington can't function under less-than-ideal circumstances, then he can't take us to the Promised Land. If he can't take us to the PM, then he's not our QB of the Future. If he ain't our QB of the Future, then we need to start seeing who is. And this is my biggest concern, fellas. Most on this board are still concerned about (and talking about) this season. It's not about this season (9-7 tops now, the way Miami played at home yesterday, and even if we get into the playoffs we'll get blown out), I'm worried about what the hell we're going to do in '07. Clemens has zero playing time and experience. At least Denver straps on a pair and gets Cutler's feet wet come hell or high water.
I guess no other QB has a problem with pressure. Brady did great against us a few weeks ago when Chad out played him, Manning was absolutely terrific against the Steelers last year. Every QB is the best under pressure except Chad. Eli was awful until the team got healthy. Everything is Chad's fault, might as well forfeit the rest of the season.
And Denver is paying the price for that. It's always about this season. Next season you same guys will be focused on 2008, some people just think that way. Has it occured to you guys that there are a lot of other positions on our team besides QB? Don't you think a first-year coaching staff and a slew of rookies and young players would benefit from making the playoffs, whatever happens from there? From a credibility and experience standpoint, making the playoffs is always a benefit to your team. Especially this team under Mangini. Look at San Diego. They let Rivers learn the ropes and when he came in this year with no experience he did well because the team is good. If Clemens can do the job he'll be able to do it next year whether he plays some garbage time now or not, so why forfeit a chance at the playoffs now? Chad runs the whole offense, to take him out now is assinine.
Im sorry, but please dont stick up for Chad Pennington, he was down right horrible yesterday again! Chad had time to throw the ball, there are no excuses. Chad cant proform against good defenses, plain and simple. I'm done with the 3 yard out passes, he cant make a throw down the field! He just cant do it. If I was Mangini at some point during the 3rd quarter yesterday I would walked over to Patrick Ramsey and said put your helmet on kid.
I am not (nor have I yet) called for Chad to come out. That would have been completely assinine going into the Bills game. But that doesn't mean I won't call for it at some point after we've Chinese Fire Drilled ourselves out of playoff contention.
