Peyton Manning is the only rational answer to this question.

Must be a QB. Young, too. Matt Ryan.

ryan hasnt proven he can do it consistently. if you have only one chance to get it right you had better damn well get it right. too much risk with any of the young young qbs.

peyton manning. proven and durable, will play a number more years and will still be the best qb in the game when he quits. this is a no brainer.

Anyone who didn't answer Peyton Manning (or a healthy Brady) doesn't understand football, period.

There is no other correct answer.

Guys, Matt Ryan had a nice season, and it looks like he will have a fine career, but not a single GM in the league would trade Manning or (healthy) Brady away for him.

You know why? Because they'd be maligned, ridiculed and fired on the spot. Justifiably.

    Let's get real here.

Edit: And Jay fucking Cutler? Have you all lost your minds?

Easily Jamarcus Russell, Jets really could use a quality LT prospect.

Except Brady ISN'T healthy and Manning is on the downside of his career.

So what you're saying is that if Dimitroff gets Polian on the horn this morning and offers Ryan for Manning straight up, Polian asks "Where do I sign?" Is that honestly your position?

thats not the perspective most of us are taking. Some want a guy who they know is good and is going to be great and can build a franchise around for 10-15 years.

Some believe a defensive stalwart is the way to go like Ed Reed, because he can also score TDs and be a complete game changer like a QB can.

Those two you mentioned are now on the downside. Manning can get it done, but some see a Manning in Ryan. Most experts did in terms of leadership and how he communicates with teammates, coaches, and the media.

Brady may even be done for good. To say that everyone else is an idiot makes you look bad. Let's calm down with the bar table hypotheticals.

The one player who I think would have made the most difference last season would have been Larry Fitzgerald. I have become hugely impressed by him. He seems to be playing at a level higher than everyone else.

But with Favre a question mark and the rest of the Qb's on the roster also question markes of a different sort heading into next year, I hear those here clamoring for a Qb in answer to this question. Since I assume the question is not merely for one year but for the longer term, I would probably prefer a younger Qb with promise to be productive for years to come. That might be Rivers, and I think Flacco's stock went down with those three int's, but I tell you I sure do envy the Ravens right now. Those guys appear set at Qb for at least ten years. Wow.

    Ryan is another one.

I can't believe how many people have answered Rivers, Ryan or even Cutler. As much as it is the correct instinct to want a QB, passing over guys like Manning or Brady in search of youth is stupid. The NFL is a win now league, and with Peyton Manning the Jets would've been the best team in the league this year.

Gonna bring Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clarke and Marvin Harrison with him? We need a speed guy to get up the field for someone with an Arm Like Peyton Manning.

Give me Albert Haynesworth to line up at DE next to Jenkins with Ellis on the other side.

Defense wins championships, I thought everybody knew this....

I'm still taking DeMarcus Ware, If we ran a 4-3 it would probably Haynesworth
