I don't believe it's a one year gamble by the organization. That would make the Pats a pretty dumb organization by any stretch. But I do think that if the Pats disappoint, it could be Belichick's last season. That vein in his neck gets any bigger and he'll be needing a walker for the sidelines.
IMO it is a gamble , because of the way they have suddenly changed their whole philosophy and approach. Sorry Namath2Kolber but you would have to be quite dumb to bet against the Pats making the POs. They were already a good team , but the question is will all these FAs make them better. Certainly the Thomas pick up will do them no harm at all. ScotsJet Has highlighted another problem area and it is a bonfide one at that. Will they be going after a QB in the draft? If Brady goes down so does their whole season then we will see how strong they are. Whilst the Pats are addressing some of their needs , I look at some of the players ages and it raises eyebrows. If BB does 'go out on top' , his succesor is going to be left with a boat load to sort out.
I firmly believe that all these signings are as already said , 'one last hurrah'. And the fact that his pupil may become the master next season. NO MORE BEAR HUGS
