It depends on how much he would cost really. They'd most likely want a high pick or two, and in that case no way. I'd rather ride out with Geno or Fitz.
So you're saying we should wait for Luck or Rodgers to become available within the next 2 years? Dammit, that was my plan. _
What is he even worth, a 5th? A 6th? He is dead to Washington, why would he be worth more to anyone else? It's not like they have a superstar in the wings, they have nothing and he is still dead to them.
And I believe they will only NOT draft Mariota if somebody above them has already taken him. I agree he starts if they don't but only because they have nobody else not because that's what they prefer.
If the redskins take mariota i would give a 3rd in 2016 that can turn to a 2nd based on playtime and team success.
That's way too much considering if they take Mariota , he'll almost certainly be cut. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Same as trading for Fitz who was likely going to be cut. Takes the bidding war out of the way. give up a 3rd for a reclamation project with his skillset at a good cost and if its successful it cost a 2nd. Worth the gamblw i.m.o.
Except Fitz was a 7th and it was advantageous to trade for him because he was then locked in to that 3+M and everybody thought he could get more as a FA.
Rg3 has more talent and more potential than fitz ever had. And would probably get more on the market than he gets now. Someone will pay him.
There would have been no bidding war for fitz at all. If we trade for rg3 and give up a 2/3 you realize his current contract has a 16million option next year right And before you say he'd restructure what if he won't aka Percy harvin. This would be the same situation as Harvin but with more at stake. If the jets make a trade w a restructure in place ok. But the price to acquire would be a point of debate. And if you're rg would you take away your leverage with the option or to hit the open market when you have a shot at a rebound season and more money? It sounds good in theory but I see no reason for rg3 to do it. He's coming off a horrid year with his rep relatively low. There is no upside for him to restructure anything now. He'd be negotiating a restructure w all leverage with the team when he currently has a huge option year only to end up able to negotiate from worst case the same point of leverage should the team decline it. Next year on his option year when he would be due over 15 mil.. They will cut him then.. This year he is still fairly cheap so I can't see them cut him.
He has a 5th year option like any rookie under the new CBA. It won't get picked up if he doesn't significantly improve though anyway. It would be a dumb reason to not trade for him.
