in a trade? no. its pointless we've already traded enough picks as it is. I'd rather stick with the devil I know with Geno, after all RG3's got some hurdles to overcome himself despite his killer beginnings. but as a free agent on a condition heavy deal in 2016? sure, bring him aboard.
If he were cut loose for some reason I would have no problem bringing RGIII in to camp to compete for a job but I would not give up anything of value for him nor would I pay him what he is making now.
I would only because there is Fitzpatrick and Geno here. I wouldn't give up alot, and I wouldn't even give him a starting job. Competition between Fitzpatrick, Geno, and RG3. I think that would be a good thing to have if the Jets can't draft a QB. If RG3 is injured, there is Geno and Fitzpatrick to back him up. Do I truly believe in RG3? Not really. But if there's a 1% chance he comes back and fulfills his expectations, I would take that in an instant knowing that there are not many options and I have Geno and Fitz anyways if it doesn't work out.
I don't see him being able to take our team to the next level. That being said, I'd be against getting him.
Not in 3 lifetimes. RG III is a cancer. He threw Shanahan under the bus and his teammates didin't like it. Look at the game film from that time. Everytime RG III got sacked none of his linemen helped him. That is a tell tale sign that he is not liked. He never takes any responsibility for his play. Bad pass? He says the wrong play was called. QB fumbled? RG III says the pocket collasped.
I don't want RG3 or any other guy who has proven that he isn't durable enough to play more then 1/2 a season at a time.
Of course. Anyone who says otherwise is fooling themselves. In order for RG3 to be available, the redskins will have drafted Mariota. At that point RG3 is available and probably for cheap A mid round pick this year and conditional 3rd rounder in the 2016 draft that could move up depending on how many games he starts or whether he resigns. Something like that would be low risk for jets. Considering Bradford was getting a first round offer, that offer would be cheap. RG3 would also be the best option out there for the Jets. A change of scenery would do him good. This is also his last year of his rookie deal so there is financial motivation to play at a high level.
I'd love to have him. He was sensational his rookie year before the injury. I think he's still salvageable a change of scenery could be what he needs. The talent is there for him to be the answer at QB for the Jets.
RGIII makes $3,269,877 in salary this year and has a pro rated bonus hit of $3,449,836. Next year he is an unrestricted free agent. Let's say we can get him for our third or fourth round pick (we do not have a pick in round five or six). Do we extend him now only to watch him fail with a huge contract on our books? Do we give him a chance to succeed only to watch him leave as a free agent at the end of the year? Do we watch him go 8-8 and use a $15 mil per year franchise tag to keep him from leaving because he is showing improvement? I just don't see how any of these options is worth the loss of a draft pick and $3+ mil that could be used to fill other holes.
