If he did fall to #6, I would try to trade the pick , but make it known that we WOULD be prepared to take him if our valuation wasn't met. I say this because it seems that the valuation 'chart' is seeming to lose its own validity. If a player is wanted by a team they will go after him.
Personally I would love to draft Ryan. I think even right now , he would be a better QB than Clemens. He doesn't have a gun for an arm , but neither is he Chad. But he reads and throws well.
    Take him

Coming from a guy whose avatar is of a QB who can't throw a 15 yard pass.

nope. If we must draft a QB, wait till round for or so and take Erik Ainge out of Tenn. We have to beef up the lines in FA and the draft.

Actually he can throw a 15 yard pass. That is what Chad considers a bomb!

Actually, the 12-yarders are the bombs. The 15-yarders are more like the all-out Hail Mary.

If Matt Ryan falls to 6 then he'll also fall to 7 as well, then 8, who the hell knows.

    No.

We are trying to win now, it's year 3 of Mangini's team, now is the time to make a serious run deep into the playoffs. A rookie QB won't do that, let Kellen lead next year.

Thank god you're not the Jets GM.

Matt Ryan is not a "can't miss" QB prospect, this draft doesn't have any great QBs, just a lot of OK ones.

If the Jets take Ryan in the first I'm not watching football next year.

It means he's not just undertaking a rebuilding process, he's two years into the job already. If you don't get it turned around by year three you're likely in trouble. He may have bought some time by having a good first year, but if he has two bad ones back-to-back he's not going to be in a good situation. The difference in talent in the NFL is not that wide, you should be able to at least compete for the playoffs in your third year.

But you'll watch with Chad at QB again? Yea that makes sense.

This is the year everyone expected us to make a serious run. 3 seasons is plenty to do that, and I expect this team to be in it this coming season. When mangini was hired, everyone said give him 3 years to take this team over the top. Well his time is up, it's time to make that run. We need a great offseason, but if we build on the talent this team has and build up the lines, they can win now. We are NOT rebuilding by any means anymore. We went to the playoffs in 06, this year we hit a bump in the road. However, the team is still basically the same as the 06 team, we just lost the close games instead of winning them. Now build on the talent this team has and we have a shot.

So then you think Kellen is better than Ryan? Don't get me wrong I like Kellen and I am not saying Matt Ryan is the next Elway or Marino, but i do think he is better than both QB's on our roster.

I'm saying it's stupid to draft a QB in the first round until you give Clemens a full season under center.

And if we were to draft one in the first round he would have to be a much better prospect that Matt Ryan.
