New GM means New Coach means New QB so I'll play your game Come 2014 if we still dont win the SB or at least look like top notch contenders Jets fire- Tanny and Rex Jets cut- Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow Jets hire- Tom Gamble as GM and David Shaw as Head Coach Gamble works for SF, Shaw was Harbaughs right hand man then connection will be all thats needed and we become SF East which is what our team is basically trying to become Jets Draft- Josh Nunes from Stanford as our Quarterback of the future- kids rapidly improving has great physical tools and mechanics reminds me of Jay Cutler without the headaches. back to reality, Woody just needs to count his money, right checks and let Tanny and Rex do their jobs by 2014 if things dont look bright we got a lot of young talent, all our picks and some trade bait to build our team over again
And after 3 years of rookie growing pains he fails to impress, becoming the next Alex Smith, or worse, Matt Leinert. There is never a guarantee that a big time college QB will be a big time NFL QB. The Jets could have drafted Peyton Manning and this fan base would have called for his head after 4 years. Then after this failure, the Fan base wants a new QB and claims the GM & HC have no fucking clue and we get to start all over again in 2018 or whenever. Its the same fucking story with this stupid fan base and its the reason this team will never go anywhere. Moronic fans driving the media and putting more pressure on whomever the owner is to make unnecessary changes. How about a little fucking stability for this franchise for a change. Maybe if we didn't have the longest list of head coaches in the NFL we might actually get somewhere.
my point is he bought the team he didnt inherit it. so he has no inclination to sell it unless he gets bored. just like every single person on this board would not sell it if they had decided to buy it. if you or i anyone else owned it we would treat it the same way. as a business and make sure it is run profitable.you want him to sell.stop watching and stop buying tickets and stop buying gear. if its not profitable he will sell it
Agreed. I'm no longer happy with Tanny either, but that's not the direction to move towards. There are better choices whose names we're not familiar with. As much as I like Parcells, lets face it - he let us down. He gave up on us and had a lot to do with Belichick not staying to build his evil empire HERE. Yes, we've been a better franchise because of Parcell's time here, but he let us down and I don't want a part 2.
I know this is pure speculation since he is not about to sell it, but conceivably a purely business decision could be made to sell. NFL and other major league franchises are sold from time to time. And when sold they usually go to the highest bidder. I can imagine someone saying Woody is doing such a shit job owning that team taht I can do better and also make more out of it. And even the satisfaction one gets from seeing one's "company" do well would be attainable by someone else. Perhaps such a person would be willing to offer Woody enough that it would make sense to sell. I just have this feeling that the Jets will not win an SB as long as Woody is the owner.
He listed the W/L record and playoff accomplishments of each head coach while with the Jets. I don't think you understand what cherry-picking means. Rex doesn't have the resume that Parcells has, not even close. But he's also only in his 4th year and his time w/the Jets is nearly identical to Parcells in terms of W/L and playoffs if not BETTER. People overlook how good Rex has been for us because he gets the media riled up and they listen to everything the media says as if it's meaningful.
If I'm Woody Johnson, I am laying in a deck chair on the roof of a skyscraper, drinking fermented calf's blood from the hollowed out horn of a rhinoceros while 7 young Asian women lick my nuts and shaft. And I'm listening to an audiobook version of Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty trilogy.
We could have the next Dan Snyder on our hands as well. Wile we could do better for an owner, we would probably do much worse. Woody is willing to spend money on FA players - sometimes overspend, but not to the level Snyder does. I think this organization has been pretty smart since Woody took over. There hasn't been a cap-hell year yet and we do have some pretty good players through draft, retention, and FA pickups. You can't honestly say you enjoyed the Jets more during the Leon years can you?
Leon was too hands off most of the time, but in fact he had the very good teams of the mid eighties and the late nineties, and of course the improved condition of those late nineties teams is the basis of where the Jets were when Woody bought the team. And really has not improved upon, on average. I think Woody mostly bought the team because he saw a tie in with the potential West Side Stadium deal to in turn be a player in the Olympics that were being pursued, and of which the WSS would be a big part. It was more a real estate deal than anything else. Of course he hasn't sold the team despite the WSS, and Olympics, going down the toilet, but he seemed to be mostly focusing on the deal to put the replacement stadium up. He's been spending a lot of time recently doing a kick ass job helping Mitt Romney (smh), but that will soon be over, and something tells me he's not about to be made the ambassador to Great Britain by the man who wins the election in November. What will he do next? Another great deal like the Tebow trade? I can hardly wait to find out.
Guys just feel like since we dont have an Andrew Luck, Cam Newton, Robert Griffin etc... we cant compete in the future
You flatter Ryan too much. Parcells's defense does not play slow. Neither does it miss tackles on a regular basis. And Parcells's offense literally punches the opposing defenses right in the mouth, and keep it bleeding. Ryan's Jets? Not even halfway close. That said, Parcells as GM = Epic Fail.
So it's Rex's Fault that he doesn't really have the personnel...so I guess he shouldn't get praise and credit for having a top 5 Defense every year he's been here... Weird how that happens.
Why would Bill Parcells get rid of Rex Ryan after he was the one who suggested Woody hire him in the first place? Sparano is also a Parcells guy, he signed Sparano to a 4 year deal as HC of the Dolphins back in 2008. The fact is, there's no magic bullet... The Cleveland Browns tried the strategy you're suggesting by hiring Mike Holmgren, who is every bit the football mind that Bill Parcells is, and has had no success in Cleveland at all. Past success is no assurance of future results... and that goes for everyone associated with NFL football.
This says it all. The fans do not realize how much they actually do have a say in what happens to the franchise. New York fans are notoriously impatient and that has worked to the Jets detriment for a long time now. It ALMOST worked to the Giants detriment when they wanted Eli and Coughlin out of town in the same year that they ended up winning a fucking superbowl! But they seem to get all the luck and we don't. You never know what could happen this year, and after one loss to a tough opponent with our star player injured, everyone wants to clean house. It's unbelievable. Talk to me if we finish 5-11. Point is, a big part of this franchise's problems as Fozzi stated is lack of stability. We need to get rid of the bridge jumpers in this fanbase because I am willing to ride it out with Rex and even Sanchez. (A little tentative on Sanchez, but time will tell.)
What you're really saying is "Hire Bill Parcells, then fire the Bill Parcells guys that are here, then hire some Bill Parcells guys". Heh!
