Regardless of whoever it is the season is likely over from the get go with anyone not not Ryan Fitzpatrick under center. I'd rather roll the dice on Geno and see if we can salvage something rather then sign an average at best qb that won't be here for more than one season.

Terrible fit for the offense and the receivers skillsets. Glennon holds onto the ball for an eternity, and is built to be playing under center, running play action and throwing up bombs to speedy receivers. He'd actually be a good fit in Denver. He'd get himself killed behind our shaky offensive line and his mediocre short ball accuracy/longer release wouldn't work well when our whole passing game is predicated on feasting over the middle with big physical receivers. Not to mention he's a statue.

Think poor man's Joe Flacco with nowhere near the football acumen.

I can't believe there are 24 Jets fans that want to see Geno Smith start a game in 2016. What a disheartening prospect.

At that point I'd rather draft a quarterback, cut Geno, sign Hoyer and pray Hoyer doesn't win the job. Petty starting would be fun because he'd be a complete question mark.

The thing that sucks so much about the whole developing a young quarterback this year whether it's Petty or a drafted quarterback is that we play 5 playoff teams in the first 6 weeks, and 4 of them are on the road. They all have good to great defenses outside of the Steelers and Bills and the Steelers defense should be much improved.

We could certainly be a surprise 10-6 but we could also already be basically buried going into week 7 vs. a rebounding Ravens team.

Yeah, without Fitz we have little chance of a shot at the post-season. With Fitz it is better.

I am not of the popular opinion on here that Fitz can't match what he did last year. At least that there won't be a significant drop off.

If we go with any of the other alternatives there will be a big drop off. That's not saying that I'm against Mac drafting a QB and trying to set it up for the future.

Glennon or Nick Foles. Draft Lynch and let him sit. Punch Geno on his way out the door

Just do the next man up. Geno in this case. He'll sh-t the bed because he's GeNO but hopefully buy some time for Petty or Lynch. Hoyer isn't worth signing and we can't waste picks on Glennon.

The answer has to be Geno. Petty is a development project that can hopefully turn into a solid backup one day. Even if we wanted him to start next year the odds of that happening are slim to none. If we end up drafting a QB (in the 1st or 2nd round) the last thing we need to do is destroy another career by playing them too early. With Hoyer you get anywhere from 6-10 wins with a bunch of missed throws to our great WR's. With Geno he's either going to get us a top 5 pick or take advantage of finally having NFL caliber players to throw to. If we draft a guy this year and he plays well the trade value of Geno will be solid. If he turns into a stud we've struck gold. If he sucks we get a top pick. With Hoyer/not ready rookie/Petty there are far too many things that can go wrong.

I think we need a veteran insurance policy that can step in incase the starter gets hurt or struggles.

McCown then I guess....Geno should be able to do OK with this team a year into the system and Petty you would hope could be a backup at this point

I just don't see a big downside in Geno or Petty vs. a known veteran chump

Will be interesting to see IF we draft a QB what we do about that. Assuming Fitz does not come back (I still think he does) and we draft let's say Lynch... Roster would be Geno, Petty, Lynch, and Hoyer? Do we carry 4, I'd hope not.. Cut/Trade Geno go with stop gap or rookie, or go without veteran who should be around to mentor rookie. Guess it'll be more clear post-draft.

McCown could be available if the Browns draft a QB and that's not a guarantee that they will. For right now Hoyer would be a solid veteran that they can bring in to compete with and push Geno. Because if Geno falters then you want to have a guy in place that has experience and can step in and play.

I don't see the Jets drafting Lynch, too many needs on this team and I don't think he's better than what we have on the roster already.

That's fine. Lynch, as stated, was used as an example. From reports it seems as if we're doing everything we can to trade up for one.

Even if the Jets sign Hoyer/Fitzpatrick or draft a QB, all I want the team to do is have an open competition. Whoever wins gets to start. None of the options available should be given the starting job.

They won't pay anybody 8M plus to sit on the bench so anybody signed in that range will be the starter.

Voted "Draft Pick" but I really mean anybody but Geno.
