Yeah, and if Brady had Cotchery and Coles to throw to this season he'd be putting up Manning-like regular season numbers. Take a look at the general trash that he's had around him at the skill positions when NE has won.
This thread is absurd.. Gee I wonder why a 3 time SB winning QB gets the benefit of the doubt after a bad game and Pennington doesn't(which is BS on its own) Pennington has gotten the benefit of the doubt after ONE bad game but we are not talking about one bad game anymore, we are talking about a bad 6 game stretch.
He was an average QB at best then. He was above average to good, then he got hurt and became a shell of himself. We weren't in the AFC Divisional game because of that. We were there because of a great defense and a running game. Pennington was purely a game manager then. When Pennington is at his best, he is a game manager AND a guy who can make a couple plays a game. The Moss pass was great against San Diego, but the body of work once he came back was not of a great quarterback. And he has had 2 surgeries since then....
Are we really discussing Future first round ballot Hall Of famer Tom Brady and Chad pennington? In Five years Brady will be discussed with Montanna, Marino, Farve and Bradshaw and Pennington will be discussed with Ken Obrien and Browning Nagle.
It would be more interesting to change the thread title to "If Brady were with Pennington", and move it to the BS Section.
Occasionally I like to joke. The post I made was a clear joke I thought. With a Pennington Keep the Faith Avatar and calling him K I N G in my signature. Thanks for letting him know man.
you cannot be serious starting a thread like this.....how bout brady has a bout 19 great games to every one bad one...and penny has about 1.5 good ones to every bad one....'EVERY QB HAS UPS AND DOWNS" HAHAHAHAH come on joe willie.....you must be joking right?
If Pennington went to New England, he'd be better than Brady is now. If Brady were a Jet, he'd be average. It's about the coaches and the supporting cast.
once again the gauntlet has been thrown down who will pick it up? i'll admit it's going to be hard to top this last one though.
It is remarkable how little respect Brady gets from some people. What exactly does this guy have to do to get credit from those folks? I have always thought that there couldn't be anyone here who wouldn't have killed to have Brady as the QB over the last 6 years, but I guess I'm mistaken.
Normally I just lurk here during the game weeks to get info on the Jets as this place is a good repository of info on them. But I couldn't let this statement stand. I mean, what are you watching that would bring you to conclude that Pennignton in NE would be better than Brady and Brady would be average in NY? In fact, I'd say that chances are Pennington with the current cast of WRs Brady is throwing to this year would be in way over his head. This year, more than any other year, Brady's had to tuck balls into tight spaces with alot of zip on the ball as the margin for error is pretty slim. There's no way Pennington would be able to survive in NE with what Brady's had to work with.
I guess you can give people the benefit of the doubt and say that it's because he's on a rival team and he's killed the Jets in the past. But I don't really understand why bashing a guy that dominated your team makes some people feel better either. I mean there really aren't too many Brady critics left at this point and the ones that are still firing are using 5 year old arguments from 2001. It's kind of sad actually.
