Well at the same time, Tannenbaum did draft Vlad who in theory SHOULD be the offensive line help that we need so bad. But he sucks.

I fully understand we can't have quality players as depth when we are so top heavy, and Turner got hurt (which was Vlad's fault, so he hurts the team in multiple ways) which ruined everything.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but what about Leonard Davis? I think I saw some Pro Football Focus article where he actually had some decent games last year. He also has the ability to kick out to tackle.

I doubt Greene makes much money as a 2nd round pick...

Powell was probably drafted because LT was going to be gone this year, and I don't think the Jets are sold on either Greene or McKnight as the long-term answer. And based on what we've seen, there's no reason to think either is.

As for your first point, no, you can't have depth everywhere, but the Jets really don't have depth ANYWHERE except for CB, RB, S, and DL, and in the case of RB, S and DL, while we have depth, it's more like quantity instead of quality.

Tannenbaum flirted with Nnamdi too long and wasted a lot of time in FA. He was lucky we were able to sign Cro.

We didn't have to select an OL first round, but we could have picked one up in the fourth or 7th rather than Powell or S. McKnight. However, to his credit, I'm really happy with Wilkerson and Ellis. Kerley may well end up being our slot receiver soon also.

He assumed Mangold would always be healthy and sat on his hands with the ~8 mill in cap space once Turner went down. The OL was a problem the entire preseason. The OL is under-performing because failure to acquire proper talent/depth at the NFL level. That's on Rex and Tanny and to smaller, but not insignifcant degree, Callahan.

its because we lost Cumberland and JOSH BAKER is not ready. Mulligan does a decent job when blocking.

Let's fix the offensive line before we start thinking about cutting Greene.

    Cut Greene?

Learn why he can't find a hole to run through.

I'm not really sure how cutting Greene would help.

I know, we might as well cut LT too because he's a backup now which means he's old.

    It all makes no sense.

We have been screaming for years now that the line Had no Depth and now we can see that first hand. I also think the Jets have done themselves a disservice in going away from some form of the wild cat because it at least kept defenses on their heels . The Jets are trying to Install a more pass orientated offense party by design and Now mostly out of necessity because we are either behind or not running the ball very well.

I think there going to get these guy's together and we will see improved play in the next couple of game. It can only get better at this point or we have some serious issue .

    Found one of our "cracks"

Must be our offensive line or possibly our run game or our pass rush. Its too hard to tell which from space.

Yeah but I doubt things would be much different if we had a 4th or 7th round journeyman in there instead of Colin Baxter or Vlad Ducasse.

They probably should've signed Andre Gurode, but they thought Turner was better at this point. Then Turner went down.... There was fuck all available for us, really. We all knew OL depth would be a problem, but the problem right now is the starters. They looked awful the first two games with Thor in there, so there's either something schematically wrong or the big guys got lazy this offseason.

The starting five of Brick/Slauson/Mangold/Moore/Hunter played well late last season in the most important games, so I'm dumbfounded as to why they've been so bad.

The wild cat was mostly successful because of the offensive line, and because Smith and Leon were very good runners with the ball in his hand, and there was a bigger threat he would throw the ball than Kerley/LT.

Now, the OL has played like trash, the wild cat wouldn't do anything.

We definitely miss it though, Smith averaged 7.9 ypc, 11.5 ypc, and 9.4 ypc the last 3 years running it. Sure, he never even ran for 300 yards, but he made plays for us in the regular season when other things weren't going well. Getting that many yards per carry out of a runner is ridiculous.

But like I said, the OL would render it useless.
