I would rather have Ainge start than Pennington.

What's the best thing about Ainge anyway? Since I lack any knowledge of college football, (mainly because I don't watch any games, other than occasionally viewing highlights of certain star players coming out for NFL drafts) my opinion means next to nothing on them. The highlights look pretty good on this guy, so I'm not sure what to think of him. So, what's the skinny on this guy?

Hmmmm... but the CS/FO is not going in another direction. Not yet at least.

My apologies if this post doesn't facilitate this great QB discussion.

    agreed!

I had hoped the Chad loyalist party had gone extinct after he lost his starting job last year, but even after his awful play they have multiplied. Proof positive that "Idiocracy" is really happening.

If they let him start this year they will be going in the direction of the unemployment line come 2009!

It is beyond insane that 95% of them agreed he should be benched after 1-7 and now they are rallying for him to start and do the same thing all over again.

They haven't multiplied, and the poll itself shows that as well. Far more ppl voting to see Clemens win the job. I believe he'll have a tough time beating out Chad regardless and I am pulling for Chad, but I believe the best QB should play. I also believe our CS believes and intends to honor that. So there is not much to fight about until we see what is what through TC and pre-season.

Of course he should sit after 1-7 and we were out of contention. Give Clemens some time and experience. If Clemens is going to beat out Chad eventually then the experience is only going to help him.

And you call us Chad homers. It's common sense man.

Will the Chad faithful agree with one condition?

Once he gets the starting job, which he probably will since we have no one to challenge him and the CS has no balls to trade or dump him...

and once agian he gets benched or leads us to yet another dreadful year and top ten pick...

will you all finally get off his nut sack and get a clue...

and denouce him as the great football savor you thought he was?

He is a weak armed never was that only completed one full season and has the weakest arm of any starting QB. He doesn't scare my youngest daughter with those soft floaters he calls passes.

I doubt that very seriously. The QB will end up playing, and I think whoever that is will end up doing alright. The OL should gel and allow us to play better ball control offense. The defense should step up big for us this year.

And if he takes us back to the playoffs and gets a couple of wins under the belt you agree to get off our nutsack, right? At least admit that Chad isn't ALL bad.

How many top 10 picks has he "led" us to in the past? Hmm....wait I got it...just one! Okay, so just one top 10 pick the season after Pennington started at least 1/2 the games. Lets not make it sound like he's been a 3 or 4 win QB every season.

And what will all the anti-Chad people do when he leads us back into the playoffs?

So Chad gets us to the playoffs (which, barring a miracle, would almost certainly be in spite of him, not because of him). So what? Lots of teams make it to the playoffs, and then lose. Season over, nobody is going to remember in a year. Making it to the playoffs should not be the goal here. The Jets should be trying to win a Superbowl. Chad's limitations make that impossible.

Teams with lousy QBs do not win Super Bowls. The Ravens won in 2000 with Dilfer, but had one of the best defenses of all time and faced a Giants team that imploded. Other than that, you can look back more than 20 years and see that the vast majority of SB-winning QBs are multi-pro bowlers if not HOFers. Chad does not qualify.

Well, somebody will win this competition, and whoever that is deserves to be the QB of the NYJs.

The team will support him. The CO will support him.

And the fans will look to see if he completes the pass for a first down or not. What else? That's our job.

Why should Jets fan fear the unknown? Like I said, uknown is a regular term, not a football term. You dont play someone simply because he is an unknown. If you did, then I should start at qb over Pennington because I am also unknown. You never know for sure, I could play great and end up being the Jets qb for years. But seriously, a better comparison is finding a good qb in arena football. Under your theory,it doesnt matter what league he is in and how bad he is, all that matters is that he is uknown in the NFL. And according to you, that alone shoumd warrant him starting.

I never said the Jets will make it to the super bowl with Chad at the helm. What I am saying is that he gives us the best chance to win with the current qb's on our roster. And in case you havent noticed, you dont need a great qb to win a superbowl. What you do is need is great offensive and defensive lines.

Brilliant post. So you are saying who we should have drafted after we see how good they are in the NFL. You are very special b/c it seems like you have a rare 20/20 hindsight vision.
