I may be proud to be a Jets fan, but there was no way in hell I was proud of last years 4-12 season, Herm's 4-12 season, Kotite's combined 4-28 seasons, or any other abysmal season, and anyone who is has real low expectations of the Jets.
Called my bro in Calif screaming at him we did it!. Bought EVERY newspaper the next day that I could find. Oh yes collected all my money that was owed me from my co workers since I bet the NYJs straight up. Went to the parade @ City Hall downtown NYC. Saluted & cheered when they raised the CHAMPIONSHIP flag @ Shea before game 1 of the next season. Felt pretty good about being a NYJ fan from the end of SB3 until we lost to KC in that PO game
Yes I do as well as the newspapers from the victory the week before vs the Raiders. I also have a copy of SB3 as it was actually televised by NBC which naturally includes the commericals & pre game show
See now that's what I like to hear. I hope one day I can have that type celebration. That's actually a cool story and it made me chuckle.
Glad you do & hope someday you to can feel the elation that winning a world championship brings. The after glow is terrific. Actually besides winning the WC the next best thing was whomping up on the NYGs in the 1st ever NYJ/NYG game played. The NYGs HC called it quits or was fired after that game.
I have the SB Daily News. It's in my drawer. I pet it every once in a while. It saw four moves, and I still have it! Front: Back: Woo-hoo, Matt Snell. One of my all time favorite New York Jets. Even though he's in my current signature, I really need to honor him with an avatar. As a matter of fact, he's hanging out over at Jet Nation right now.
Yes he is one mine as well as is many of the 60s NYJs are. I changed my avatar to the front page of the Daily News of 01/13/69
Broadway Joe! Sweet, champ. Haha, the funny thing is, they abbreviated it to 'B'way'. What, they couldn't find a way to make the type fit?! They were too busy?! Typical disrespect!
Well I think they PRESUMED evryone would know that B'way is the shorten Broadway since the paper is directed at NY/NJ/CT area. I did not see any disrespect or malice in the shortening on the part of the News in the spelling. To me that was typical NY speaking
