For clarification, I'm not writing a ticket to the Super Bowl. I'm still unconvinced this team is ready for a deep run in January. However, this team has shown me that it's capable of better than .500 this year, which is a far cry from the 4-6 wins I was certain would be best-case scenario this year just a couple weeks ago.

We can make the playoffs with this team, this year. I'm pretty sure of that now. The division is ours if we want it. This team was pretty good last year. Good enough that with some more intelligent playcalling, we'd have played in January. We improved our personnel across the board, with the exception of the #1 WR. My biggest issues coming in were a rookie QB with one season of college starts behind him, and a new coaching philosophy for the team to buy into.

Given that Sanchez has been worlds better than anyone has a right to believe a rookie should be, and Rex has gotten this team to buy in from the start, it's not hard to see this team go so far as to win a game in January.

Yes they did win but they still managed to choke away a huge lead and need to win the game in an OT they had no business going into. They didn't manage to win too many games after that OT either. The major difference between this years team (so far) and every othet Jet team we've had since Parcells is that this team is going to step on your throat when they have the chance... none of this let them hang around garbage.

you always look to improve when you can, but i think cotchery and stuckey have given fans confidence that the receiver aren't such a glaring weakness. cotchery can be a #1.

I don't think it is pushing it, our pass blocking has been really good and Sanchez is mobile so I don't see his performance as a fluke it doesn't really matter if he is a rook if he is given a lot of time to throw, our d has been insane and this is without our best pass rusher so i can't see their performance as anything fluky either, our special teams have always been solid so that is the least of my worries. Only thing that I could worry about is the running game and if our receivers behind Cotch and Keller continues to develop and even that could get better as Sanchez gets experience

Remember the Steelers went 15-1 with a rookie QB and there is the Falcons/Ravens stories of last year so it is definitely possible.

The thing about the Saints game is I think we can be able to run on them better then we have been running the previous two games (in Houston or run game was shut down early) and since we know that they will pass it and pass it a lot we can go insane on the pass rush similar to what we did to the Pats except their run game is probably weaker, Mike Bell is decent and Bush is overrated

Point is we can win any game on this schedule starting with the Titans

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised by how much pressure the Cactus was responsible for on Sunday. When the Voyeur gets back, QBs will be scrrd.

thats what i was thinking during Sunday. That game was so fun to watch I almost didn't care who won. It was so much fun to see this team compete and have fun on the football field again.

Before the season started, I thought we would start out 1-3, and basically be fighting uphill the rest of the year. I thought our defense would be very good, but a tougher schedule and the trials and tribulations of a rookie quarterback would keep us 7-9 wins. I'm not shocked that we're where we are right now, but everything that has happened has pretty much been what super-optimistic Jetfanmack would think.

I think this team will encounter a problem when they play a QB with good mobility. I am not worried about theCollinses or Penningtons, and I actually have not seen Brees play all that much. The other mitigating factor would be a down game by the rookie QB. I will say one thing: if Rex is dialling up new stuff every week, as I read today on another blog, he is going to present big problems for the opposition,

There really isn't anything to apologize for here... being cautious at the start is the prudent thing to do considering all the changes this team went through in one off season. Sometimes these things just click like they seem to be doing for us now. I doubt it always happens so seamlessly or smoothly.

I'm dropping in to say that I don't think the Saints are an automatic loss. They played two defenses that could be described as "god-awful." Their RB situation is far from settled. Their defense hasn't proven anything yet. The Jets are fully capable of winning that game, especially if the Saints' run defense falters.

I was wrong too.... never liked QB's from California, and I did NOT like the Sanchez trade/draft pick. So many before him have been epic fails.

I thought the D would be in the top half of the league.... but no TD's in two games? Never even dreamed that up.

I've been a Jets fan far too long to get all drunk and happy though. This franchise has so many epic fails.... I'm staying positive, but I still am cautious.

Just like every other Jet fan, I'm happy with the start. To me, a main concern right now is Kris Jenkins health. Can he make it thru the season healthy enough to be the force he needs to be for the defense to be elite.

I think Jenkins is still important, but I don't think he is the make or break of this D like he was last year. The whole defence seems to be contributing this year. I think we could go a couple of games without any one of the lunatics and still be good enough to win (before you jump all over me, remeber we have alsready won 2 games without Pace who seeded to be one of our best defenders last year)

I was set for an 8-8 season but these two games have shifted me up to 9-7 or 10-6. This is going to sound weird, but I am anxious to see how this team and coach reacts after a loss. I also tend to worry about an overabundance of penaties, especially since the last few coaches were so big on reducing them.

Road trips should be much better. Can you imagine being stuck on a plane with Mangini? It was amazing they could function at all.

    couldn't have said it better.

I've said it before and will now. The Saints will be the true test. They have more quality receivers than the Jets have guys who can cover them. If anything is "weak" on the Jets' defense it's the secondary depth.

If you take away the homer in most of us...your prediction wasn't that crazy. Game 1..a rookie QB and a rookie HC against a damn good offense..makes sense. Game 2 speaks for itself. Game 3 is a game I thought we had a chance in...watch this is the one we lose.

Bottom line is that I think there were a few, including me, that thought it could be slow going early on.

One part that I really do not agree with is that this was a weakened Patriot team. If you mean its just a flat out team in decline..I would agree with that. Are they dead? Not by any means are they dead. The Pats are just rebuilding on the run. Its going to take a few years because they are retooling on defense now with retirements and trades and will by next year, have to address the offensive line.

To me, the next two games will say a lot for many reasons. In the parity of then NFL, this game has Titans written all over it. The more desperate team usually wins. The Titans are very desperate. If the Jets win this game...to me...it would just as impressive for other reasons then beating the Patriots.

Which brings us to week 4. Go undefeated into the Saints game against that offense and let me tell you...that game will get just as much National press as this past week. Unstoppable offense against a great defense.

Sorry for taking up so much of your thread Alio..lol...thats it for me.

You need not say your sorry...your initial concerns being proved wrong were concerns that many of us had.

Actually, I always considered us deep at nickelback.
