When he is taught the basic fundamentals of football, maybe he can be called a football player.

Right now he's an athlete wearing pads and a helmet.

The only thing that would explain VG's predicament is if he were a tranny.

He has probably been taught them everywhere he has been. The problem he has is learning them.

Have pity on poor Vernon and all the millions of dollars he'll have to to drown out the "bust!" shouts from we evil hometown fans.

Gholston is the team's latest, greatest mistake. He has been gruesome to watch. You can only stomach so much of that as a Jets fan after a few years. I'm not going to be pumped because the guy who got major guaranteed cash makes a solo tackle every once in a while. Wait, has that happened yet?

I really think Gholston will peak around Thomas' levels. They look very similar as their progressions go over the first season.

Sure, Thomas had a few tackles and a half a sack, but he had much more playing time.

Gholston better start using something more than that lean and spin.

    Where is the speed?

The Ghost cannot play DE- he was getting manhandled when he was lined up at DE. He just doesn't look that "big" as a DE (I know he's jacked but he doesn't look the part of a DE).

It's LB or bust with him, I'm not holding my breath on him.

Gholston didn't have as much playing time because he sucks. He will never be as good as Thomas based on what he has done so far. He was so bad in fact that they deactivated him for one game.

You watched a college player who did nothing but speed rush slower college linemen. Welcome to the NFL where they are bigger, faster and a whole lot better.

Ohio State fans knew he would be a bust.

I haven't read the earlier posts so I may be redundant. Forget the fact hes still learning the system, where is all this natural ability, quickness, strength, etc. He looks totally lost out there. If hes our starting olb the first 4 games we're in big trouble.

Vern is a perfect example of why a weight lifter doesn't necessarily make a good football player. He's perfect for the ECW though. Big cash, predictable outcome..

As Jamie Dukes would say "Vernon Gholston just doesn't have any dog in him." Look at a guy like Harris, Rhodes, Scott; they have talent and they have that hungry dog mentally that makes them hunt for plays to make as opposed to simply (in their mind) trying to do what they're told and hope it works out. Look at guys like Danny Woodhead, Dwight Lowery, and Kenwin Cummings; they don't have great ability but they have that same time of mentality and go out their busting their ass trying to make a play.

Gholston doesn't have that and I don't think he ever will.

Maybe the Jets can hire Marmaduke as a consultant to teach Gholston how to have dog in him.
