Different strokes for different folks. I never miss a Jet game. I have the money for Sunday Ticket, that's not my point. I don't like to waste money for no reason. I'd rather invest in my 401K or Kid's College fund. I could careless about 200 other games. I only want to see the Jet games. Currently, I usually get to see about 10 jet games on TV. IMO, it isn't worth the cost for six games I can view on-line or go to my local watering hole to see the Jets play the games that aren't televised in my area.
You moving to Columbus to go to OSU??? Let me know what part of town you're moving to, and I'll recommend a bar in your area.
next year Guys , Don't mean to highjack or get off subject, but it is my understanding that this is the last year DTV will have the sole rights to the NFL. This is why they are offering it (Sunday Ticket ) this year free with a 2 year comittment. I would stay away from that, unless you want the other programing that DTV offers. I don't have too many details, but I think next year you will have many more options for NFL football (JETS) that will not require a dish or long term contract. Streaming has come a long way since the NFL first went into business with DTV and I am thinking the NFL will want a chunk of the revenue once the contract is up. Look for an affordable package some what like MLB.TV offers now for about a 100 bucks a year, Just guessing at that price. I would think the NFL's streaming package will be more affordable then DTV current prices. An with the advent of the marriage of TV and computers you should be living large if your an out of town Jets fan. I have a desk top hook to my 42 inch plasma and the MLB pagkage looks excellent..... Here's hoping
I want StealthShot back!!! I don't want to spend a fortune on Sunday Ticket or watch crappy free streams... Here's NFL Game pass offer... https://gamepass.nfl.com/nflgp/secure/packages Damn it's expensive... and it doesn't even include the post-season!
Unfortunately, you don't get to unilaterally dictate what you pay to the provider of a service or item. If I could, I'd own a new TV every month for $10.
Yup, grad school at OSU. I have an apartment at Governours Square, which is just north of Upper Arlington. Not sure I'm gonna do cable so I'll need a good place as soon as the Cowboys game. Appreciate the help!
I am aware of that... however the last 2 years I've been paying 5$ a month... now I have to spend 200 euros for a whole season... as you might have guessed this kind of pisses me off.
Sure, but you were paying $5/mo to stealthshot, which isn't legally broadcasting the game. It sucks to pay more, but to be honest, you had it better than you should have for 2 years.
I know exactly where you're living.....Corner of Kenny and Henderson. When I first moved to Columbus, I lived in Fox & Hounds Apts right across the street from Governour's Square. Check out the Arlington Cafe, it's real close.
Don't know if it is just a regional thing but Direct TV was offering a free football package promo for new customers. I think you have to purchase all of the premium movie channels. I live in Maryland now. Just a heads up if you guys wanna look it up. I can't get it because I live in a high rise apt and the only ppl who can get dishes are the ppl with balconies. The balconies are only on the odd numbered floors and I live on the 8th =/. Just thought I'd share the possible wealth. Also, I used to watch games on justintv and myp2p.eu online. Some games had a lag but others were crystal clear. Hope this helps.
When I lived in a place like that I just pointed it out my window and got it to work, even with the window closed...
Amazing, Most transmission companies charge you for a bunch of bullshit you never are going to watch in the first place nor wanted in the first place. A nic guy like Stealth gave out of town fans just what they wanted and nothing more. Why won't the provider offer you and I a fair price a la carte for just the programing we want and nothing else. Honestly, I hope another 10 Stealthshots pop up this season maybe then it will force the providers to give the customer what he wants and not what they think the customer should have. Why the fuck do I have to watch a game I have no interest in because some comapny wants to make even more money on top of the millions they are already raping the consumer for. If fans in NY can watch NY sports for a fair or free price(rabbit ears) then why must those outside the viewing area be bent over and pillaged. I have no problem paying for a service or product, MLB.TV is an excellent example of this. Can't wait till DTV no longer controls the NFL broadcast rights and other are allow to come into the market.
On the point of DTV and their NFL sunday ticket with a sign up for 2 year contract. Its a scam. Even if NEXT year when you want to cancel it and not pay for it. It will already be introduced into ur premium. Long Story short I got double billed basically when I didnt want NFL ticket. Find it online or go to a bar no need to waste 200$ on something ud rarely use
Sunday Ticket is way overpriced. I understand Directv pays a lot of coin for the rights and it's their bread & butter, but it's now out of control. I'm done with Sunday Ticket!!
Our local radio station broadcasts all Giants games which I took advantage of during the 2nd half of our last game. Belive it or not, listening to the game on the car radio was pretty cool. 'Imagining' the game through my rose colored glasses was probably a better experience than actually watching it! Wouldn't recommend this for the superbowl though, plus the radio sucks for shots of the flight attendants.
Right. A nice guy took a product that didn't belong to him and distributed it to people who didn't want to pay for it. I'm sure if you owned the rights to something, you'd be perfectly fine with what he did as well. You know what we should all do? We should get one guy to pay to fill up his own car, and then just rip open the gas tank and give free gas away to anyone else who comes by. That would be awfully nice of him. If you don't want to pay for what the 'transmission companies' are offering, don't buy it. It's really that simple. A la carte offerings are something the entertainment industry needs to, and are, seriously looking into. Unfortunately, as I can tell you firsthand, the entertainment industry doesn't see piracy as an impetus to change; they see it as an excuse to NOT change. It provides them with a convenient scapegoat for their diminishing returns, so don't kid yourself into thinking that 'another 10 stealthshots' will do anything to force providers. You don't. They can't force you to watch anything. They can't force you to buy anything. They have a service that you want. If you want to pay the price for it, do so. If you don't want to pay the price, don't. It's really that simple, although our generation seems to have adopted the attitude that the value of an intangible service should be dictated entirely by the consumer. Otherwise it removes all moral obligation. That's horseshit. Nobody is raping you, nobody is raping customers. They're charging what they want. If enough people simply stop watching the programming, they'll be forced to lower the value. Like I said, though, as long as people simply pirate it, they have a scapegoat. Your extreme diction is laughable. Nobody is being bent over for $300/yr, and nobody is being pillaged. If you think $24.99 is ever going to be the price for NFL service, you're delusional. It's MUCH bigger business than baseball is, especially when it comes to regular season ad rates. NY fans can watch NY sports for a fair or free price (although that 'free' price is actually paid by advertisers) because they're in New York. No matter where you happen to live, you have fair or free access to a team. It's not the team you want? Then you can pay for it. Or you can stream it. Don't kid yourself into thinking you're somehow justified, though.
