If you miss him that much, follow him on twitter. His same quality insight is there...two or three days after the fact, as usual.
I think you guys are being way too hard on Cimini. Would be interested to know who or what you consider a good beat writer for an NFL team and a columnist also ? I think Cimini's daily updates were great and I liked his opinion pieces. Cannizzaro @ The Post is also good and Serby has 30+ years and a link back to Paul Zimmerman's days at The Post. Whatever happened to Paul Needell -- remember him ? I think he preceeded Cimini at the NYDN.
Cimini completely made stuff up. He was always the first writer to be on the disgruntled players side. He never had good access to the Jets front office because he was a shit stirring writer. He was bitter and his columns reflected that. His ESPN stuff is different because his audience is much more national and the editor wont put up with his bullshit. The Dailynews couldnt give a shit what he wrote as long as it was controversial. Whatever sells a paper.
"He loved to see puppies wither in pain as he tortured them." an anonymous source told me about Cimini.
It's funny, I think most people considered Cimini's writing to have improved since he moved to ESPNNY and had to compete with Manish as his replacement. He has actually done some bona fide research for some of his articles. When he was with the Daily News, his work was terrible. I think you are in the minority as far as missing the horrible articles he wrote near the end of his time with the Daily News.
Manish has been on that "Pay Revis, hes only making 1 million" bandwagon, via twitter. Hes trying to praise all these guys on twitter so he can get interviews and what not. He is a clearly a player writer
Cimini is trash. Manish is 100X better. You sir are a troll and should get an infraction for necroing this awful thread.
