I hate to say it, but this game was necessary.

i dont see why losing any hope for the playoffs is necessary.... especially when the reason its necessary is to confirm geno smith sucks

I didn't read through the entire thread, but I read enough to be able to say that I think the people who have gotten on Abyzmal, haven't really grasped his point. His point isn't that "Geno cost us this game because he is terrible - I hope he dies in a fire." His point is that it should be beyond obvious to any Jets fan with a functioning brain that Geno isn't our future. Look, we all know that, regardless of which Jet was behind center yesterday, we weren't winning that game with that kind of defensive "effort". The point isn't that Geno lost us the game, it's that he displayed the same, infuriating, inexplicable, and simply inexcusable bad habits that he has always had. I could probably write a 20 page paper on his bad tendencies (tendencies that, in and of themselves, give him no chance to have success on certain plays in certain situations).

However, for brevity's sake, I'll put it like this: Geno Smith consistently makes bad decisions with the ball in his hands, particularly in pressure situations with the game on the line. Unfortunately for Geno, good decision-making is the single most important characteristic that any successful quarterback must have. Geno just doesn't have it.

Totally agree. I have written this several times before on this board, but Geno has the worst pocket-presence I can ever remember any Jets quarterback having . . . ever. Ever. Like, some of the sacks he takes are mind-boggling. I actually believe in my heart that he forgets that he is allowed to throw the ball away. It's fucking amazing. If I weren't a jets fan, I would find it hilarious. Of course, as a jets fan, it's just frustrating . . . especially because the guy is tall, has a terrific arm, and is mobile as hell. If he only had a fucking brain.

We know what the future looks like when it's forced to arrive too early.

Geno has never been smart enough. And it's not even so much as intelligence, as it's processing speed. Given enough time (6 time zones) he'd make good football decisions. Unfortunately....
