Folks, I would like to use this post as an example of a person completely out of his element and grasping to win an inch of an argument, any argument, just to make himself feel better.
He lost all credibility when, not only did he want us to draft Maurice Clarett, but he spelled the name "Mo Carlett".
Based on your comments, I find it very hard to believe you actually WATCHED any of these games. Herm is not a head coach plain and simple (great motivator, nice guy, media friendly, but that's about it). He REFUSED to let our youth progress, and could not manage a game to name a few things. It absolutely drove me nuts that he hired a "clock management coach", and STILL mismanaged the clock! And I'm being kind when I say "mismanaged". The word "Mutilated" would probably better describe how he handled the game clock. You have to wonder what his peers thought of that. As for the race issue. Anyone on this board would probably agree with the following comments. Marvin Lewis is a good head coach, and may be considerd a great head coach one day. Lovie Smith and Romeo Crennel look like they're going to be pretty successful coaches. I would take any of those guys over Herm in a heartbeat. It's not a race issue, it's a "can the guy do the job well?" issue. For all I care our coach could be full blown asian, and speak to our players through a translator. As long as he shows up prepared on game day, and doesn't make the same mistakes over and again.
Jay - sayin' the thing when the thing needed sayin'. This is standard tripe from the dude that started this thread: posting to get a rise out of people. I honestly have never seen him throw race around like he did with this one, but I'm not surprise he would.
Herm is a good coach for a veteran team ready for a playoff run. Good Motivator, conservative in game coach and all around good guy. If you are going to rebuild you need a detailed teacher and disciplinarian(Like the Giants w/ Coughlin, Dallas w/ Bill, the Pats w/Billy and the Fins w/ Saban). The Jets are rebuilding, like it or not. They hope Mangini is in the teacher mold.
I'm not too sure the poster had any intention of winning an argument. I'm not even sure the poster knows what an argument is.
Okay fine, they were built to make a super bowl run and had been that way for a few years. Herm inherited that team and did NOTHING to improve it...happy?
I guess these are people who escort people who smoke weed in the staduim. I guess that don't happen either. You need to come from out of that rock you live under and pay attenion. MARK!
So this is it...this is the big response? People smoking weed getting kicked out with all the people calling Herm the N word. Only a fool would not admit that there may be some that think Herm was a bad coach because of his race. For every 100 on this board that didnt like Herm, I would say perhaps one or two feel that way. Your general stroke was just that...stroking.
I am glad Herm is gone. He was a fake phony and a fraud and will be run out of Kansas City in less than two years. I personally dont care what planet he is from (i.e. whatever degree of melanin). FUrthermore, I would propose that Herm was too busy being BLACK to be GREEN. I cant stop thinking about his stupid remarks about being "on the bus". I believe that may be a veiled reference to the late Rosa Parks, as if he believed the Jets were somehow not being allowed to sit in the front of the bus.
Now you're taking it the other way. Don't you remember Parcells whole 'on the bus' thing? Then he would say that there may be a lot of guys on the bus, but Lawrence Taylor is driving. That's where it comes from.Rosa Parks......Jeez!! When Herm told everyone to take a drink of water during practice was he referring to police hosing down civil rights activists in Alabama in the 60's?
i really dont remember parcells talking about the bus, maybe because i wasnt a giants fan. I do remember parcells talking about the shopping cart with regard to the draft and free agency.
Last I checked calling somebody the N word isn't illegal, but smoking weed is. I guess there some fools on here because I would bet anything that there is a few people on here that is happy he gone because of his skin color.
i bet youre absolutley right about some people being happy hes gone becausse he is black.....but who cares?whats your point?that some people are racist?great.the post was still a gigantic waste of time
dude, please tell me how this team we have now is the most talented weve had since 2000?????we dont even have a full team.....this has to be the worst post of all time...cmon....and you were polite in your disagreeing with the other guys so i shouldnt get all excited, but thats gotta be the most ridiculous thing ever
I based it on position by position. I consider the team that started the 2004 season to be the most talented team we have had since 2000. So comparing next years team to what the 2004 team looked like coming into the season position by position us why I have us rated higher this year. Below is what I consider upgrades and downgrades over how the team looked coming into the 2004 season. But keep in mind this is before we have had the oppurtunity to add FA's and players from the draft this year. So we should only get better in comparison. Upgrades: Defense 1. Miller over Abraham 2. Barret over Barret 3. Rhodes over Toungue 4. Coleman over the rookie Coleman 5. Vilma over Cowart 6. Barret over the Barret that started 2004 coming off a very bad 2003 season. 7. Hobson over Hobson More experience and a better player. 8. Robertson over Robertson Robertson came off a very disappointing 2003 season has more expereince and is a much better player now. Offense 9. Coles over Moss 10. McCairens over Mcareins Although McCareins While not coming off a good year he has much more experience and is more proven than the player who entered the 2004 season. 11. Jones over Fabini. Anyone over Fabini is an upgrade. 12. Moore over Moore 13. Nugent over Brien 14. Graham over Gowin Downgrades: 1. Ellis over Ellis 2. Ferguson over whoever is our NT 3. Abraham over whoever is our DE 4. Pennington over Pennington 5. Martin over Martin 6. Sowell over Askew 7. Becht over Jolley 8. Mawae over whomever 9. Kendell over Kendell 10. McKenzie over whoever is our RT This is before the draft and signing FA’s. We have more depth now than we have had in a long time and better starters. But like I said in my previous post better talent doesn’t win games without good QB play. While the 2004 team came into the year inexperienced with many many question marks they were light years ahead in talent of the teams that started the 2002 and 2003 seasons. Most of these young players have grown in the last 2 years and come into the 2005 with much more expereince and better players. On the other side many players have gotten older and come into 2005 with more question marks. But overall to answer your question we are better off in a position by position comparison before we even get to FA signings or the draft. Does that mean we will have a playoff year next year. I doubt it unless we get good QB play and adhere to a good conservative offensive low turnover philosphy. But there is reason to be optimistic and have hope.
i think herm was not a good head coach in the last year. He only did draw plays for 1, and he made bad picks in the draft
