While I am optimistic about him as our new HC, I'm holding off on any judgements for at least 2 years, barring an incredible Super Bowl run his first season.
heres why people who dont trust rookie HC's lack logic. if nobody was ever given a chance thered only be 32 coaches in the league until each one died off i guess people should just stay position coaches too and never become coordinators. now obviously most rookie head coaches arent a long term success, but if you dont give a person a oppertunity to prove anything, youll keep eating the same shit you feed yourself.
I give Rex three seasons to get in the championship game. I don't know if he will get us to the SB in four or even six years, but I would be very happy with just being in the championship game to start.
it may take 3 years just to find our franchise qb and develope him, if he can give us 2 playoff app then i'd say he did alright, concidering he doesnt know who his qb will be in 09. if it's favre then ryan still wont know who his qb will be for 2010. i hope too many people are not expecting us to come out and 09 and just beat up on everyone in the nfl, because those people, will be very disappointed.
The Answer: We are Jets fans, why not? I think for one people really like his style of addressing his players, the media and his general attitude. The other thing is as a DC his players (all of them to a man) are willing to run thru a wall for him, that kind of loyalty can't be overlooked. I never felt like Mangini had that level of feeling towards him from his players. The Ravens D truly LOVES this guy, and that is HUGE. He's so much more well rounded then his dad, and whether his dad won one or not as a HC means nothing. He was a good coach and one thing Rex got from his dad is an aggressive attitude. He won't sit back on O or D or SP when competing and that is a philosophy I can live with. Lastly he's our coach and we are Jets fans, WHY WOULDN'T WE EXPECT HIM TO BE GREAT.
