Win,lose or draw. I hate the pats and their fans. In fact even when we don't play them I hate them. Yes they won the game but no praises coming from me. Fact is we lost. Let's just get our shit together and kick the shit out them when they visit our turf.
That's an interesting hypothesis but even if the numbers confirm, it doesn't prove a casual connection. My take was that BB adjusted at half-time to the scheme and found a way to beat it as evidenced by the success they had in the first drive of Q3. I don't recall exactly when Pryor went down.
IMO, its more important to develop as a team and make the playoffs--If this happens, I couldn't give 2 shits if we lost both games to them and I believe TB is treating it this way. Nothing wrong with your point of view--It aligns well with Rex's point of view IMO and its why fans tend to like him.
These posts are very confusing. Why is so many people acting as though this is the first time we played the Pats tough only to lose a game we should have won? Did you guys become Jets fans this year?
I sure as hell don't want to be aligned with Rex. I hate him as well. In fact I hate every team we face with pats and the fish finishing first and second. My teams are all from NY and while I don't love the other NY Teams I root for them when they are not playing my teams (Jets, Mets, Rangers and Knicks). JMO
I don't see how its confusing. The post was meant to single out the aspect of people only being negative about this game. I'm stating fact, we played them well but it didn't go our way. Our future for this season is much more bright than it has been for the last several years. I'm by all means disappointed but it happens, fans know this from seeing it happen every year. It was at their home and its our second loss of the season. People need to calm down. It sucks but we have a game next week.
Oh things can be much worse then some Patsie fans coming on here acting abnormally human. We could have Jim Bob Cooter as our OC: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...ng-changes-were-running-out-of-time/#comments And the best comment of the day: Jim Bob Cooter's offensive play calling will involve tobaccy spittin, gator ‘rastlin, shirt sleeve cuttin’ offin’ & neck beard growin’. They’ll run plays out of the sawed off shotgun which is like the shotgun but not quite as far back. And his arrest record is colorful too: http://www.local8now.com/home/headlines/49623477.html I got a good laugh out of this, especially since we were also eliminated from the playoffs by Halloween last year. We lost to the Champs but it's not as bad as it could be.
While I agree that it is not appropriate to throw in the towel on the season just because of the loss to the Pats, and that some are probably overreacting, it is not as if the game did not reveal some problems for the Jets. Even against lesser opponents, it is not inappropriate to wonder how those problems might play out, going forward. After all the Raiders just came off a win on the road against a division opponent led by a quality Qb, are 3-3 and a win against the Jets would give them an equal record. We can't assume an equal level of performance against the Raiders as we saw in NE will mean a win. Some problems we knew about already, but imo there are some others: Qb. On the whole I think Fitz had an above average game, but he has his limitations, and I think we can add to that that if future opponents see this game film, he cannot rely so much on scrambling as he has until now. Timing is also an ongoing work in progress. TE. Woeful production here in the passing game. Not much help in the running game, either. OL. While this unit has generally played well, they had isssues in pass protection against NE. Giacomini and Colon in particular did not play very well. Fitz was pressured 18 times according to PFF. WR. Marshall being effectively double teamed was probably related to Ivory's lack of production, but see RB below. Decker looked great the first half, not so much in the second, and whether the Jets have a reliable third option is still in question. RB. I love Ivory, but the NE game gave ammunition to those who questoin how much he can be relied on. Meanwhile Stacy was disappointing, and Powell is hurt. Don't expect Ridley to be in mid-season form even if he comes back soon. DL. Lots of talent here as we all know, but let's face it - with NE's game plan, the Jets' DL was not a significant factor. LB. Harris made perhaps the biggest mistake in the game on that 3rd and 17 play. Davis graded out poorly, and was not a significant factor. (Just when I think he's taking it to the next level, he seems to slip.) Pace played pretty well, but Coples again was not in on many snaps. Mauldin and Reilly did not see the field other than Reilly on special teams. DB. Gilchrist arguably had his worst game as a Jet. And NE neutralized Revis generally by avoiding him. Cro had a very good game, though. Pryor played well when he was in there, but again showed some durability issues. And when he was out? Skrines I give a bit of a pass to since he was coming off a concussion. But he did not play well in the second half. Bench players were okay. Notable that as I understand it Walls has not played a single snap at Cb all year and committed a penalty on special teams. Special Teams. Folk had a good game, and I take it Weatherford's problems aer short term. Still special teams remains a concern. Some of these problems were evident before, and OF COURSE no team is perfect. But there are some issues to be sure.
Based upon my eyeballs, I thought he made some nice plays and contributed well. Do you have a link to the grading that you are referring to or is this your opinion?
Good stuff man. I agree. Regardless of what pats fans are saying because I'm sure there are plenty saying we still suck blah blah blah the patriots are still the champs until proven other wise. I hate the pats but I have a lot of respect for them. Through all the spygate, deflategate stuff they still come out and prove to be the best team over the past 10-15 years. They are always in the playoffs and competing for a super bowl. I hate Brady but I have to as a Jets fan but I think he's the best qb to ever play the game. The Patriots may go undefeated this year. I'm excited for our next matchup in MetLife should be another great battle and hopefully we get a third chance to play them in the playoffs. On to the Raiders, can look past them. They are a much improved team and especially hard going to the west coast to play in the black hole
Quick point here. I don't see why Harris was even on the field for a 3rd and 17 play. Makes zero sense to me.
Did he have time to get off? The Pats don't usually let opposing defenses substitute, that's the whole point of their game.
Didn't help that we didn't have depth at safety but Willaims, walls would have been better options. Walls played some safety in training camp
I don't think the CS thinks much of Walls. As I said in that post he has yet to play a single snap on D, and committed a penalty on special teams. He might be the team's next cut. Williams in for Harris would I think have been the dime package? Yeah, on 3rd and 17 that might have been the better call. But as I recall Harris said he was out of position on that play, so if he was where he was supposed to be, it might have been the right D.
The posts are very confusing because they seem to want to push this false narrative that this loss was somehow different from all the other close losses we've had against the Pats in the past few years and for that we should take some sort comfort in that. Some seem to be taking a step further suggesting we should pride ourselves in that we may have garnered some respect would be Patsie trolls. I see no real difference between this loss and the ones in the recent past except for the fact we are a MUCH better team, which kinds of makes this loss worse than the others if I'm being honest. Does me pointing this out mean I'm not calm or do not realize there is another game next week?
