We had this game and let it slip away. The Pats* receivers were dropping everything. Our D was playing lights out for 3 quarters. We blew it. Plain and simple. And no, I'm not happy about it. [/QUOTE] all there is to say
Nobody is happy about it but perhaps a few Genobots. We lost to the better team because we didn't make plays when we needed to. Pure and simple. Not the Refs, not the weather, not the rotation of the Earth.
f that look at the replay when Mangold got hurt, look at the replay when Kerly was thrown down out of bounds look at the pass interference no call/ Bull shit the Jets did not lose this game as much as the refs helped the cheators win
The league will look at it. If they find something, they'll deal with it. The Jets have only one option and that is to submit game footage to the league for review. The loss stands so we have to deal with what is, not what we'd like.
I can deal with the lose but what i have issue is is the attitude that is ok for the refs to miss and blow calls. Until fans expect from the nfl what their employers expect from them this league will continue to put out garbage officiating like the this past game. The NFL has enough money to get it right not 1 out of three but every time. You expect them to protect your players and in this game twice they did not. Twice they made game changing no calls on a hold on new england and PI. But according to people we should let that slide. until fans start demanding better and asking for more we will have games decided on by the refs Baseball at least got it right , they may not make the right call every time but their percentage is in the upper 98% while football is struggling to reach 50% most of the time. While the Jets have one option as fans we should be asking for more I did, will I get an answer I doubt it but if all the fans start asking maybe just maybe they can fix it. If mangold is out for length of time I'll be doubly pissed. Look at the replay, he was pulled down that player that pulled him should sit as long as mangold is out if he misses anytime.
Love this quote from Bowles.... "We should be upset we lost. Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser."
Fitz lacks the ability to drive the ball downfield with zip, which limits our offense. Nonetheless, he played a great game today outside of a few boneheaded plays. Our D lost us this game by not stopping NE on a 3rd and 17.
They didn't do anything to Suh for kicking Fitz in the head so what makes you think anything is gonna be different now? As my wife would say at this point: Its gravity so deal with it. This sort of nonsense isn't particular to the Jets. It happens to everybody in almost every game. The trick is to overcome things like this. That's what the great teams do.
The ref's cost the Jets the game? Please. The Jets more than held serve on road against a vastly superior opponent. The Pats couldn't hold onto the ball, but the Jets just couldn't hang with the big dogs in the fourth quarter. It sucks, but it's hardly surprising. What hurts is that the Pats clearly were way off their A game and the Jets couldn't take advantage. Not gonna cry about the clock management. Turning point was when Jets had 3rd and 6 without about five minutes to go and ran a bomb to Smith. Gotta run a higher percentage play there and play four downs. You don't give Tom Brady the ball back at the end of the game when he already has the lead.
Yeah I'm pissed we lost but we are right there with cinci Denver and the pats. We can compete with any of them. Hopefully mangold is okay
Jets special teams suck, Steve Weatherford gave NE easy field position. How bad is Zac Stacy? Small margins between winning and losing Jets just hope Jets learn from this and win tight games in the future
Great good post, but I have three points to make in response. First, I watched the Bills game this morning and it was deja vu all over again. Horrible QB play and a defense blowing the game with a lead at the end. I don't miss the incompetent offense and defense that comes up small in big spots. Good riddance to Ryan. Second, while this is a team on the rise, this team is not young and the window is not wide open. While I will root for wins, the realist in me knows that this is not a SB team and that 10 wins and a wild card are the high water mark. Why? The Jets still do not have a championship QB. Fitz is an average journeyman and , while he may not lose the game, he will not win a game for this team when they need a QB to win the game. He is limited, like it or not. What is the future of the QB position on this team? Third, it's fine to tell people not to criticize the QB, but what makes this year different from any other year? All I read on this board since 2003 was QB arguments and criticisms, from Pennington to Sanchez, to Smith. Those three were fair game (and far worse), but it's hands off Fitz. Why? Fitz is not the QB of the future, or even next season, and this team might be 4-2 with Smith, who was outplaying Fitz through camp, and have a future QB. Now the Jets are in QB limbo, which puts the future very much in question. Fitz has been good, but he's been lucky also and not immune fron criticism, particularly in the end game where he has failed twice now in the two losses. The pass to Decker with 10 seconds left was either idiotic or he couldn't reach the end zone. And throwing the two biggest passes of the year down four late in the game on 2nd and 3rd down to Cumberland and Smith was not smart either when Decker and Marshall are on this team.
Pats are the best team in the NFL right now. If we beat them then we'd be in the Super Bowl discussion. This Jets team is one of the better teams in the league but it isn't a SB team yet. Our defense is good, great at times but it isn't elite because we lack edge rushers. Our offense is good and sometimes great but it is def not elite either. We have some solid and great players but we don't have any players that are dynamic enough to threaten taking it to the house every touch. Fitz has played as solid QB as we can ask but he's not gonna carry us to victory. We can't overcome things like the Marshall TD drop or blowing big 3rd downs. We're not good enough to overcome our starters being off the field cuz they're banged up. We should make the playoffs and sure it's possible we could go on a Ravens or Giants run. We'd be a good team that got hot/lucky at the right time. The Jets can become an elite team next year if we make the right moves. The QB situation is as good as it's gonna get so let's be realistic about it. We should just root for Fitz to keep playing solid and for Petty to develop. We need to acquire an edge rush, beef up the O line, and look to add an explosive player on offense. We need to dominate on D, not just be good. We need to dominate in the run game, every game. And we need a guy that can get some return TD's/take short passes to the house. I'm really disappointed at how much of a non-factor Devin Smith has been so far. We could have had Tyler Lockett or David Johnson.
The Jets probably win this game if Calvin Pryor doesn't get knocked out of the game. It went down to the last few minutes anyway. If you have to lose to the Pats this was the way to do it, a tight game decided by a few key plays.
