it's a shame that the oldest threads available only go back to 2006 and that TGG only goes back to around 2000 when Al Gore first invented the internet....it would have been great to have been able to resurrect a MS-DOS thread from 1986 speculating whether or not the Jets were going to to win it all that year after their 10-1 start! :);)

There was a guy we got from Seattle, I forgot his name. I think it was during McCown QB year. He wasn't too bad, but the team was so awful.

Marshall has the best WR season in Jets history, so I’d consider him a success even though it was only a year

It coincides with the Jets devaluation of most positions outside of the defensive line and defensive backfield.

Consistently trying to stopgap an incredibly important position in the modern day NFL with veterans who might create a two year window of production at best is never the right strategy. Good observation.

That's true, but remember there was a big locker room bruhaha involving him and other players. He suffered from some form of mental illness that he acknowledged, but said he had under control. Nevertheless, I think it was said he poisoned other locker rooms before he came to the Jets. P.S. He is still listed as a host on the NFL Today.

I think he had some success in Minn. but really didn't do much here, if I remember correctly.
