Hahaha no shit! That was the deal of a lifetime. Hell, they could have traded him for a six pack of Guinness and we still would have mugged 'em.
I couldn't tell at all early on as our D was giving up yards on the ground and leaving WRs open and our O took 3 possessions to put a drive together. It took until late in th 1st half to really notice b/c we went for 6 instead of settling for 3 although 4th and G at the 1 inch line we did kick a FG instead of go for it later on.
I liked how everyone was on the same page. Chad would be back there audibling and no one was confused or surprised. Everyone was playing smart - and I love that. And I really liked our pace. We just kept coming and coming (except for a stretch there in the fourth). If Nuge hadn't been so god-awful we could have put our foot on their neck real early.
The difference between Herm and Mangini is not simple - it's not about W's and L's - it's about the subtle and not so subtle things that separate the Winners from the Also-rans. Knowing the down and distance is a good indicator! Anyone know how many times we ran out the play clock and took a penalty of were forced into a timeout on Sunday? What about the Chiefs? That's a stat I'd like to see! I love Bomber's post about what Chad said he'd learned about FOOTBALL rather than about being a QB - about his role and everyone's role on the team! It's early, but damn - I see that New England kind of thing happening here...and I'm glad!
The most telling difference is even though the Mangini Jets did face some adversity yesterday, not once, not once, did Mangini have that "I just pooped in my pants" look on his face. Mangini stayed focused and intense and we won.
