The post was a joke and so was the source- nfl"suckers".com. Nobody has a clue - if Pace is a bomb we paid a hugh price - if he's good to great less so and probably was worth it. Bottom line is if the Jets win we won't care how much we spend or who was a bargain, etc.
Ahhh, My ability to pick up on the jokes is hampered by the ammount of beer I consumed during bowling this night. sorry about that.
I think Thomas was only a pro bowler for one year and he certainly did not play up to those standards this year. Pace is a risk - we are paying big $$$ for potential. I feel that Tannenbaum has done his homework and will not disappoint. If we paid half the amount we would be saying this was a great signing. But it's the same player. I don't care about value or bang for your buck mentality - I feel the Jets have a plan and are not sacrificing other acquisitions because of this pick - at least that is what I like to believe. At the very least you must admit that Tannenbaum has got balls - he is not hiding and has put his ass on the line. If the Jets nosedive the dynamic duo are gone in a couple of years.
If you're right, we're in great shape. I guess we won't know until the season starts; Pace's performence is definitely something to keep a very close eye on. As for Woody...Are we done at OL? Is it D'Brick-Faneca-Mangold-Moore-Woody, or will it end up being something different? Little confused about that, and that would affect my opinion of the Woody signing, of which I'm still halfheartedly leaning against.
Um...look around the league...why is anyone complaining here when every team is overpaying in this FA market? Hell, the 1st overall pick in this years draft should get a 50+ million dollar contract. In the end the market dictates price, not our opinions.
How did this get overlooked?Hilarious! Their is no point in bitching...I don't like the Pace deal, but I digress...Hopefully it works out.
We've all been complaining that the Jets dont spend in free agency and Woody is cheap. So i do not want to hear any Jet fan complaining that we overspent.
The Jets had to pay-up to make up for the sins of poor draft picks and dissing Kendall. Look, I for one am glad they are spending money to get better. It's worth the gamble. Sure beats Mr. T sitting on his hands. Deal away, the results can only mean things will get better. They couldn't be any worse.
True...we're all really regretting D'Brick, Mangold, Revis, and Harris right now...and I'm sure they all really miss Kendall's whining about a million dollars at 35 years old...
There is a reason why Pace only had 6.5 sacks and still had an excellent season. You'll have to look for some Cardinals games to re-air on NFL Network in the coming months. I have more concerns about Woody, Faneca, and Jenkins than I do Pace. So I'm in total disagreement with you.
overpay players to get them to join your team...coaching staff sees stuff you or i or anyone sees...let them decide....tanny knows what he is doing...people are so negative...yea we overpayed them....good, i want them here...woody isnt here just for rt, hes versatile so that makes mangini like him....pace has loads of potential at sam or willy so mangini wanted him...im glad they are doing this....we wont be in cap hell either cuz tanny wont allow it.... oh and browningneagle.....your avatar scares the shit out of me lol:grin:
In this situation I don't mind the Jets going out and spending money on offensive lineman. When you have an awful O-Line you have to fix it or everyone on your team suffers. Who ever is the QB can now trust that his lineman will block for him. I really can see Thomas Jones having a big year this year. I believe the type of team the Jets are setting up is to be a power running team. Could see Thomas Jones having a 1400 yard season this year.
