Lets sign T.O. and Moss. Our offense couldnt get much worse with them around. And they will actually bitch Shotty out the door and get him fired.
JESUS CHRIST that's bad. 2 balls in the air over 30 yards...Brady threw more than that in a half yesterday and they didn't air it out by any means.
He's had one season over 1,000 yards. He a good, not great, but good #2 guy. People act like its a crime we did not pony up the money he was asking for. With his off feild issues, Diva like attitude, and so-so production, why should we ahve broke the bank for a guy the staff obviously feels is inferior to Holmes? Edwards is a very similar player to Plax. He does not bring anything to the table we do not have here rihgt now.
Let's be honest, unless Plax ends up turning into a beast at some point this season, he won't be back next year. Kerley may take over for Mason, heck it may even happen this season. Jets will need a legit #2.
Teams need to have the threat of going long to keep defenses on their heels instead of jumping the short route.
Throw 30 yard passes down the sideline where only he can get them. This has actually worked the few times we have called it.
And watch...our #2 next year will be Braylon (he will be comming in on an off year and with a chip on his shoulder). Regardless, this year the line needs to show some pass protection so we can hit Plax and his 6'6 frame for a 20 or 30+ yard Attempt. If not we will be facing the stacked box, press coverage ect. On a side note, did anyone notice how bad we are at screening? Jesus, we cant throw a fucking screen pass to save our lives. Question, and im being serious, what does schotty do well....
to be fair, I think the TD to holmes yesterday was 29 yards. Clearly it would have gone for 30+ if we ran the route somewhere else on the field. But then again, we didnt run it anywhere else, so what do I know...
So, 0-2 on 31-40 yards. I know getting Sanchez time is an issue, but I'd like to throw at least 1-2 full out fly pattern bombs a game just to keep the defenses thinking. Then again, I guess we don't have anyone that can get down field separation like that.
This drives me nuts. All we run is slants, hooks, and crossing patterns. I knows theres other factors that go into throwing deep, but when defenses pretty much exclusively play the short passing game, its time to mix it up just to keep them honest. Also, i dont think Wayne Hunter is the sole reason why we dont throw deep, we could put a TE of HB in to help pass block in that case. We're just too damn predicatable. If mediocre QBs and Rookie QBs can throw intermediate to long passes with crappy O-Lines, then theres no excuse why we cant.
Not only does the lack of a deep ball make our offense predictable and one-dimensional, it also makes it torture to watch as a fan. If they can't take a shot at NE's sub-par secondary... I don't know what to say, it's freakin maddening. I just hope this disaster of an offensive showing so far this year is finally going to be Schotty's death knell.
We pay a receiver 10 mil a year, He should be able to do the short stuff as well as the long. Which he can (No protection), but Big time playmaker Holmes > Edwards
So wrong how exactly? Where were the masses of teams beating down his door to sign him this offseason? Remember that great deep ball in toronto, that hit him in the fucking face mask, or do we jsut forget about all the really bad plays he missed on around here? Its impressive you can be so ignorant and blinded by your man love for a player though.
We Cannot Protect the passer. We TRY to throw long all the time. Sanchez gets hit. Try this, while you watch the game. It's Hobbes Drinking Game. When the ball gets snapped Count 1 Mississippi. 2 Mississippi. 3 Mississippi. 4 Mississippi. If you reach 4 and Mark still has the ball. Drink. Good luck seeing the second half. If they line up in the I formation, and you reach 3, Drink.
