If Mcfadden is there, he has to be taken. Has to. But that being said, if he's gone, Gholtson would be an excellent pick.

...and since the Jets haven't had a reward since 1969 he is sure as hell worth the pick IMO.

the guy can't make good decisions when he thinks he is going to be rich, how bad do you think the decision making is going to be when he actually is rich?

in college you can be great on talent alone, in the NFL you need discipline as well -- something he obviously doesn't have. definitely not worth the risk unless you aren't concerned about how he performs on the field and just your excitement about drafting a great college player.

I'd keep an eye out for a NT selection in either 2nd or 3rd round as well.
    maybe Red or Rubin.
can't put all our eggs in the Jenkins basket, just in case.
    NT defines the 3-4..

If we sign Pace, take Leodis McKelvin or possibly Philip Merling or trade down.

If we dont sign Pace, draft Gholston.

Either way... Even if we sign pace, that would make drafting V.Gholston that much more special... No way should the signing of Pace cancell out the future drafting of Gholston if Gholston is one of our top targets...

Either way, draft day should be great for us Jet fans... Gholston should be there #6 and McFadden has a great chance at being there @6 due to other teams needs, either way... The Jets are landing either McFadden or Gholston.

WHO is our #3 WR? What if Coles or Cotch go down??

who is going to fill in and make an impact? Both Coles and Cotch were injured at times last year.

stuckey..b smith...please. We do not have adequate depth at WR, I dont hear anyone talking about this.

I listened to the Jet report on SNY and they were saying if we could draft Jake Long #6 (if he's there, most boards say no) then the Jets would have an awesome Oline. Adam Schefter says the Jets will sign another Olinemen this coming week - and that would fill the line I think...

Jenkins fills the NT gap and with Pouha and Mosley signed we are set there. DE is still a question, but if we sign Pace at OLB is it still and issue? We need to replace Vilma - do we now look at ILB for FA or draft?

Do we sign enough guys to have the luxury to draft McFadden or to drop down in round #1 and draft FLACCO? (you can tell I'm not high on Ryan at QB) Can we trade down and trade for Brady Quinn?

Are we still after Randall Gay or will we fill the LB positions and draft Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie #1? I like this idea! This guy is a stud CB and add him to Revis and we'd have the best corners in the NFL and a Pro Bowl S!

From the basement to contender --- could be? Keep up the good work Tangini!

Depending on how the rest of FA works out but we are on our way to being able to do pretty much anything during the draft. I would hope adding some offensive playmakers is now high on the list of priorities. McFadden in the 1st, Hardy in the 2nd? I'd sign for that.

Draft Gholston- we need a pass rush
Draft a cornerback in round 2 to start opposite Revis

It looks like they want to fill every hole they can through players they have targeted in FA and will take best player on their board.

I like the idea of passing on Gay and taking Rodgers-Cromartie in the 2nd(?) if he's still on the board. At 6 overall, take the best player available.

i dont think we take a qb in the first 3 rounds, jake long will be gone too, i would like to take mcfadden, but i think it makes more sense for us to take gholston, either way we will get a difference maker at #6, as for rt if we do not sign someone, we should take john greco out of toledo with our 4th rounder, he has been a standout LT AND RT for 3 years and has great size (6'6 320) and is my buddy from high school, and i can tell you firsthand he is a tremendous athlete (great bball player, good shooter for a big guy) and is a real good guy, he plays for his mother who passed away the summer after we graduated (2003) and has her name tatooed on his arm, he is a great tackle and you can ask any toledo fan, he goes 150% every down

I think Gholston will be the guy in round 1, followed by Carl Nicks or Dre Moore in Round 2.

My Thoughts on the Drafting Stategy come April 26

I believe that with the huge FA signings, and with our roster looking rather improved, the riverboat gambling of last year will not repeat itself, regardless of the depth we already have.

This year, we draft where we stand. No trading up to grab the need player. This draft is deep unlike last years where the BPA was not the best at all. This year BPA we can be satisfied with.

Last year was starters over depth, because we did have depth (not great depth but still). This year we have starters, but now we need depth, so i expect us to draft more than 4 players this year, and more than 2 in the 1st 4 rounds.

I'm not so sure we need that much depth. I think we're in good shape. I wouldn't be surprised to see us trade back in the first round, and then up in later rounds. I think the key targets in the draft should be WR, OLB, T/G in that order.
