I don't think so. He's had his chance. Unless we suffer catastrophic injuries at the WR position this year, the coaching staff is done with Clowney. Can't pass Brad Smith on the WR depth chart, and can't play special teams.

    It's really simple math.

we ran about 1060 plays last year.

If MarkyMark cuts down on the INT's we should run 1150 or more.

Figure about a 55-58% on runs...and there you are.

Coupled with that if his completion pct is north of 60, and around 65...this team will be scary good on Offense.

My impression from the preseason was that they made a big effort to provide him with more
checkdown options and easy 6 yard throws...

I'd bet a dollar right now, that at some point..you're going to see Wayne Hunter in the open field with the ball..(Sanchez overlooked him to go to Cotchery in one game...)

I am dying to see that.

IMHO, what needs to happen this year, is Schotty needs to make him into Chad Pennington, with an arm...you put in enough ChinaDoll plays
with this running game, they'd be unstoppable.

Chad Pennington with an arm is a top notch elite QB. That's not going to happen this season for Sanchez.

You were dead on with the checkdowns, though. Like I said, with LT, I can see 450+ pass attempts. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few designed plays to Woodhead in space, too.

We have all the weapons to exploit any defense.

A between the tackles RB, a pass catching RB-Green, LT
A fast, agile TE who can beat LB's-Keller
    A deep threat-Edwards
    A clutch 3rd down, midrange threat-Cotch
    And a versatile utility threat-Smith

All we need is a QB to execute and not turn the ball over. Of course, we also need some good blocking.

The thread is about why the Jets are "only" carrying 3 wide receivers. The answer is easy. While Keller isn't listed as a WR, he is one of the best pass-catching options on the team. Tomlinson will catch quite a few as well. It's pretty easy to see why we're "only" carrying 3 "listed" wide receivers. (And I did give credit to those who did mention Keller at the very beginning of my post.)

If Sanchez throws the ball more than 20 times per game I'll be shocked.

    See above. It's simple math.

You know I love you bro, but...If you'd have bothered to look, he put it up 25 times a game last year.
    Are you shocked ???

We're talking about 4 or 5 more attempts a game, on 100 or so more plays from scrimmage due to reduced turnovers.

That's my take, too. Many posters loved him the two years before this, but he never made an impression sufficient to impress the CS.

In a year where Thomas Jones was the only consistent back. Leon went down early, and Greene had butter on his mitts.

There's no way Sanchez is going to throw that much. If he throws more than 45% of our total offensive plays, yes, I'll be shocked.

I will bet you whatever you'd like that Sanchez will pass more than 20x/game on average in 2010.

    I would put it as:

    Cotch
    Keller
    Edwards
    Tomlinson
    Woodhead
    Smith

    in order of receptions.

Total yardage would probably be different though

    Dude...as I said...Simple Math

    1100 snaps.

    450 attempts = 40%

at 45% you have him heaving it 500 times.

    Holmes (4 game suspension)
    Edwards
    Cotchery
    Smith
    Coles (back after week 1)

Once Holmes gets back, that's a good crop of receivers.

i was figuring they put hartsock out there to block in 3 wr situations and put keller in the slot. when a 4th is needed, smith probably plays.
