I would guess that Sharper talking up the Jets is a way to get the Saints to take him a bit more seriously. The Jets won't be able to sign the guy unless some team REALLY overpays for Marques Douglas, and soon.

The signing of Pool kind of precludes a move like this anyway.

Sharper is not an option and never has been.

I do think the Jets are going to draft a safety though and move Eric Smith to ST....

not that I like this move but I think that's how its going to go. If Brodney is hurt then Smith will get bumped up the depth chart.

The Jets are going to have a rotation at safety, even if a safety is drafted.

Smith, Pool, and Ihedigbo will rotate.

Sounds better than overpaying for that bum, don't it?

    I don't think Darren Sharper's a bum. He definitely wouldn't be a long term solution, but he'd be a great stop-gap option.

There's no point in signing him now though. I think Pool, Smith, and Ihedigbo will offer a lot of versatility in our defense.

Huh? The Jets may very well draft a safety, but Eric Smith is going to be an important rotational safety, especially with the addition of Cromartie.

    This.

I think we go safety in the 2nd and put him in the rotation. Gives us a lot of versatility.

Is anybody else worried we might trade up for Thomas from Texas? That has been Tanny's style, but this year especially I'd rather sit put or trade down.

Jets are going to draft a FS....that leaves either smith or ihedigbo or both in ST...we are not going to have a 3 player rotation at one position.

Jets looked at it but backed off quickly. Tanny loves Pool and PLANS to go safety on day one..DE round one.

    and its Atogwe.

and i never said i was sure he was coming...i said I know for a fact the Jets were looking at him...and said that I wanted him and hoped Tanny got it done...

Pool had actually been mentioned to me...but i brushed it off because I didn't think thats the route they were actually going to go...guess I was wrong

why not? we have 3 players who all have very different strengths and weaknesses. it would be smart to rotate them in based on the situation.

    I guess it could happen..

I think I'm just really unhappy with the way the Jets have gone about the FS position..they are comitting too much BLAH to one spot and didn't make a serious run at Atogwe...

Also, since they plan to draft safety I would rather be without pool and rotate the rookie and Smith

I don't understand why you said you'll have the Jets draft board soon.

tanny said pool was a more significant signing than people realize. i am taking that to mean that saftey is no longer a priority in the draft. maybe they will take a flier on someone late but other than that i think they have other plans for the high picks.

i don't know much about pool but all that i have read is that he is capable of being an above average player if he stays healthy so the way i see it is they have one true starter at the position and two guys who are also gonna help out on special teams. we also haven't had a chance to see what ihedigbo can do. he has been around for awhile and has never had much of a role maybe he has been developing more than any of us realize.

one thing i know about rex is that he loves to go with unorthodox personnel packages in order to match up against what the offense is trying to do. having three guys that bring different skill sets to the table gives him more flexibility in attacking the offense.
