Very true about Sanchez. But you've got to pick your poison, and I'd rather see him have to play lights out (again) than watch LT and Greene pound the ball for 6 or 8 yards a carry. And you're dead on... HUGE game. It's pretty certain at this point that the East will send two teams to the playoffs, but one of them will probably be on the road against either Indy or SD. Don't know about you, but I'd rather not play either of those teams on their fields in January, if it can be avoided.
I'm really hoping to have an opportunity to buy home playoff tickets for the first time since '02. You definitely don't want to face those passing attacks on the road.
We've had the opportunity to buy them a bunch of times, we just haven't had the opportunity to use them instead of rolling the money over to the next season. Because of the damn Patriots.
I think a lot of people here are looking at game 2 and seeing that as representative of the Patriots now. That team has improved without a doubt. The defense is better against the run. That was LT's breakout game and while they won't completely shut him down, he's not going to be a surprise either. The second half offense against the Jets in that game was primarily heave it to Moss and have him make a play. That worked out like crapola. Well Moss is gone and while they've had to adjust without him, they have. It's not just the tight ends but how the offense will use players like Branch, Woodhead and even Welker (who's playing better). I expect the Jets to have a loaded defensive secondary to counter act that and that will certainly be a challenge for the Patriot offense but how well will certainly be a big factor. The Pats will definitely run and might have some success with that defense but how well? Don't know. As far as the Jets offense goes, I think it's another big factor. Can the Patriots nullify the Jets running game while not letting Sanchez and company run wild. It's going to be real tough without a doubt. Sanchez is sure the not the rookie QB from last year and the Jets certainly have developed the big play mentality at any time in the game. The Pats might actually be able to put some pressure on Sanchez if only to make him uncomfortable but it's not a given. My hope is that Belichick can throw out some new coverages that might have Sanchez think just a little bit and that might help. We'll shall see. Sure the Patriots laid a big egg against Cleveland but they also beat Pittsburgh and the Colts, both still quite good even with injuries. This should be a whale of a game.
They don't open the sales up to the public until the playoffs start. At least that's how it worked in '02.
It's not the positions, it's the routes....or to go one further, it's the plays in general. Teams are scheming our blitzes, that's really all there is to it.
I'm not sure, like you said it's been a while. I did hastily charge and print out my Jets-Ravens AFC Championship game tickets last year after the opening round, just in case.
I went to the week 17 game in '02 and took the Monday off so I was able to get great tickets when ticketmaster opened in the morning for the PO game. We were 2 rows behind fireman ed. I've never heard the stadium as loud as it was for those 2 games and would love to hear that decibel level again.
